Not me Taylor. The comments are from some confused people though... Talking about court cases for the farmer using his phone (it's his own land so he can do what he likes). What did the farmer spray at the poor chap! Slurry, is that bits of manure in this case!

He can't do what he wants Shaf, just because it's his land - it's not the US I'd say that's a clear case of assault and he's provided the evidence - not that I'd encourage that course. Stupid place to camp. Farmer should have asked him to leave, with a bollocking if he wanted.

Agreed. Clear case of assault. Does this now mean I can throw dog sub standard at farmers who cover our roads in mud and don’t clear it up.

Some people are just angry all the time, unfortunately many farmers go nuclear at the slightest thing as their standard response

Looks like it. It's also full of ecoli and potentially cryptosporidium so could be very dangerous as well as the risk of stones etc spraying a person with it is reckless

As for the location, plenty of bike packing influencers are putting content out where they camp/ bivi in farmers fields unfortunately

I was going to chip in saying the same. He may have asked him to leave beforehand, but even if he did and was packing up, I'd doubt that would be seen as reasonable force. It's just dumb assault, which he handily incriminated himself. Farmer has turned a civil offense of trespass into a criminal act of assault against himself. Not very clever. But yeah, nothing will happen.

That probably are the same, farming is a hereditary profession by in large (benefitting from massive inheritance tax subsidy ) that sees the rest of the world against them

As ever with these clips we cant see what went on before hand? Maybe the farmer politely asked the guy to leave and was told to Foxtrot Oscar?
However, what ever the provocation- if any-the reaction was completely over the top, and is likely an assault.

It's a really stupid place to camp tbf, and also stupid to still be there (what looks like) early morning when he should have been up and away. Not really much sympathy for the camper.

Farmer was OTT obviously but I always expect every farmer to behave like that having grown up around a few.

Ok, the camper might have been a d*ck (but maybe not) the farmer is, imo, definitely a d*ck and this was brought to you by The Sun. Quite possibly the most toxic bunch of d*cks around. 15m views and, I'd imagine, a lot cheering the farmer. Makes our wild camps more difficult.

I've worked for a few farmers in the past few years (caring for one of their loved ones in some way/shape or form) and can confirm. It's always a bit unusual. With the most unusual one being when (in the quarters of the person I was caring for) I quickly sneaked in my prayers. My colleague was watching the client and I was nowhere near him (he was downstairs and I'd come up to quickly do my prayers... the carer knew but wouldn't have known exactly where I'd said em).

Prayers are just a matter of standing/bowing/prostrating and you're done before anyone knows it. Next time I was there, dad (the farmer) mentions how I should say my prayers in the adjacent kitchen and not in 'the room'. Almost as if he had some James Bond type cctv on me. Asked the (regular and permanent) carer if there were cameras but she shrugged and said, 'we don't actually know'.

Anyway, just my two pence and I'll not tell you about the other farmer who's son had become paralysed by crashing dad's Rnage Rover or whatnot on the dads land. Apparently without a licence but (paralysed son) told me it was all legal. "Cos it's my dad's land". Hence why I thought they can drive how they like on their (so called) own land.

Well. As someone from farming stock ("We've been here since the Xth century", etc), there's a wide range of attitudes, temperaments, etc. From individuals like that in the video to someone like my dad who's attitude was "I wouldn't like to live in a terrace in some run down town so if they want to enjoy what I have by chance then, so long as they don't get in the way of me doing my job, so what".

As noted, we don't know what, if anything, went on before the clip "started". There might have been incidents between the farmer and others on his land and the poor guy just got the result. Doesn't condone the farmer's actions though. There's a "history" of slurry tankers being used in a similar manner - usually it's the farmer spraying the local council offices or such. Looking at the clip I think the tanker is mostly empty - activating a full one would have resulted in a torrent that would have knocked the tent down, they've enough oomph to send the slurry 100m or so.

Driving without a license, underage, using a phone, etc. is legal on private land, doesn't just apply to farmers. I probably drove tractors around the fields on the farm from about age 10. Doesn't mean you can/should act like a d*ck though.

I know the first time I drove my dad's tractor I was too small for my feet to get to the pedals so I was probably perched in his lap while he did the clutch and brakes. There's not a lot of damage you can do on a 30 acre mostly flat surface even while dragging a contraption that was basically 15 connected sets of lawnmower blades - as long as I didn't go anywhere near the hallowed ground that was the cricket squares.

I've been thinking about this, and it could work out better than expected.....
If the Internet is true and the victim (the guy camping if there's any doubt) was on a charity LEJOG to raise money for the cancer charity that helped his wife, and he was wild camping so that maximum funds could go to the charity, then a real backlash could happen.
Wouldn't it be great if The Sun (and many readers) crowd funded a massive donation to that charity and replaced all the guys gear and offered him places to stay foc along the way. And made the farmer look a proper twunt.

Just my thinking out loud.
Anyone know if there is anything happening along those lines, as I'd be more than happy to contribute.

In my area there are strong links between illegal Mx, eMX and quad offroading and organised criminal gangs often from outside the area

True, but it all contributes to the general aggro that they can suffer from - sheep worrying etc etc - thereby keeping them in a wound-up state and easily triggered.
