Hi,

Not sure if this site is well known as I only came across it this week but it could be helpful in finding your next bike or potentially finding your stolen one:

https://www.findthatbike.co.uk/

No responsibility accepted by me if it leads you to buying yet another bike or two to add to your ideal N+1 bike formula

Good result and pleased it worked out for you :-bd

I'm sure we have all read about the cases where the loser/aggrieved makes all the enq's and finds out where the bike is only for the police to be unwilling to attend or prioritise it :|
I've got a friend who had his electric bike nicked when it was locked very close to a CCTV camera and despite him being able to narrow the theft time down to the 5 mins he was away from his bike, the call taker just filed it with no investigation! PCSO could have easily viewed the CCTV and it could have led to some good intel even if the bike wasn't recovered.

Yeah I think it was only my persistence with the police that got the bike back - the theft had been logged and assigned to an officer but nothing was happening. When I tracked my bike, I called 101 repeatedly to let the police know but I never got a call back. (My bike had been sold on gumtree but I knew the address of the seller)

After 2 days of frustration, I asked to speak to an on duty supervisor and then found out the officer in charge of my case was on holiday. The supervisor I spoke to was friends with an officer who was part of a specialist task force for investigating stolen bikes, she took the case over and I had my bike back within 2 days.

Not sure why but the transport police seem to be more proactive. When my bike was nicked they had him on cctv and he was arrested within a week - too late for my bike of course but now I’m still getting the princely sum of 38 pence a month seven years later whenever he’s not in prison.
