I've known her for over forty years. Her husband was one of the leading Lakeland climbers in the 1960s. She (and he) invited us on a trip to Kenya in 1989/90. Unfortunately she contracted pulmonary oedema on Mt. Kenya and had to be evacuated. As we were carrying her down to the rescue helicopter (on christmas eve) she noted that it "wasn't as bad as last year". "Err what happened last year?", "I was looking for bodies after Lockerbie"
