Recommendations for a hot knife

Mrs B has taken to making bags. Lots of the straps and webbing need to be cut and heat sealed. It seems that a hot knife is the ideal instrument for this, but they seem pretty expensive.
Has anyone got one they can recommend, or maybe a diy solution for making one?
Thanks
Ian

I have the dremel versatip - that's fine for hobby useage and cutting webbing and odd bits of soldering etc. Probably not professional level...but once you reach that you'll probably no what you want and justify spending lots!

Hot knife, reminds me of hazy days at college in the 90s

I just use a rotary cutter for webbing and a lighter to seal the end. Perfectly good / neat results if you're careful. A soldering iron with a flat tip (think end of a flat blade screwdriver) work work well too.

Hot knives, bucket bongs and blow-backs. Unless I've missed a possible tangent this thread was taking.

A thread title to separate people according to how they spent their teens and twenties.
Let's just hope the OP isn't a copper.
