Eunice bivy!

Just home from a night on the South Downs. Went with a mate and we set off at 3pm after the peak of the storm.
5hr ride down including clambering over about 30 fallen trees. It was actually quite a pleasant evening. Hit the SDW about 7pm and it was crazy windy up there. Really vaguely exciting trying to ride in the savage crosswind. Made like sheep and bivvied inside a hawthorn thicket. It was calm in there and the night sky was clear with a full moon. Truly special.
Up at 6am to a perfect sunrise then home via a Costa coffee for breakfast.
Bit silly? Yes.
Totally brilliant? Yes.

Good effort. Hawthorn for shelter - never crossed my mind but good shout as little chance of being woken up by a falling branch crashing through your tarp as per dossing in woodland.
I'm thinking that high winds could be a theme this year gang.

I knew there would be someone made/ brave enough to be out!!

Good call with the thicket, has crossed my mind before, starting to think about options for next Saturday if the weather carries on, and scenic top of a mountain or beneath trees is going to be less pleasant....
