Best Bivi for those over 6'?

Post by d45yth »

Hi,

I see quite a few of you are using the Terra Nova Moonlight as part of your lightweight set-up's, is there a similar bag anyone could recommend for taller folk? I'm just a touch over 6' but think when I stretch my feet out the Moonlight will be too short.
I'd looked at the Rab Survival Lite but would prefer something in a darker colour.
Cheers.

Hunka XL are they not long enough and not overly heavy??

I'm 6'2" with a comfort frame and get in a regular Hunka but looking to get a XL one just for a bit more wriggle room ;)

I've got a RAB Assault and it's massive ... must be over 7' long. They don't make them anymore and they were very expensive but I imagine something like a RAB Storm would fit the bill as it's well over 2m long.

If you wanted to spend a bit more then a nice RAB eVent Ranger at the reduced price of £90.

If you wanted to spend less then may I suggest an AlpKit Hunka XL ... no idea how long they are but I've seen some tall folk use them without trouble. EDIT See I was right. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. They all seem a bit heavier than what I was looking for, I guess I need to decide if I want a proper bivi or a sleeping bag cover.

Cheers.

Not sure how tall Anthony is but he must be 6' I imagine and he uses a Moonlite okay ... I'm sure he'll be along later to tell me he's only 4' 7" :D

I ended up with a PHD Sleeping Bag cover, specced extra long and wide. The Integral Designs stuff works and a I can get in a Vaude Bivi no issue.

You could try the Rab Survival Zone light - that's long and not very heavy. http://rab.uk.com/products/equipment/bi ... -lite.html
