Indeed, a great couple of days in the hills. Coming back to a cuppa & rediculously wide range of cakes made it even better. I rode some trails I'd love to do again and some I've marked on the map to avoid for future reference.

Did anyone else cause the Enduro at Sweet Lamb to be halted as they made their way up to GR12 in Hafren? :?

A final big thanks to all those who packed so much kit that it meant I wasn't heaviest.

A most splendid weekend indeed! Thank you very much to all.

We did manage to put the wind up the two scout riders testing the course at Sweet Valley on Saturday! They seemed very concerned that lots of mountain bikers may appear on the course during the event proper on Sunday!

Lovely to meet all the people we did, and very inspired to do more of the same!!

First WRT, definitely not the last. Big thanks to Stu and Dee for everything.

My first WRT too. Lots of friendly people in wales. They even accepted my Scottish money :D Thanks to all involved great weekend and smashing weather.

We had a great time on our 4th WRT, thanks Stu & Dee, the riding was superb, we visited the seaside twice (Aber and Borth), stayed away from B&Bs and slept out, found a great pub (Druid in Goginan), spent an hour and half lost in a forest in the rain, did 122 miles in the end with 20,000 ft of climbing

Might be back next year

My plans to make it to the pub floundered but I did get my all important GRs ticked off.

What a great weekend.
After getting a puncture after 1 mile, found some great trails (and some not so great hike a bike sections).
Bumped into Restless native and shared a pint and a great bivvy location.
Tried to get to Hafren but the Sweet Lamb event stopped us. The marshals just wouldn't let us through.
Highlight had to be the Welsh farmer we bumped into 15 minutes from the end and ranted for 15 minutes solid about Welsh politics and the English putting house prices up.
Weather was phenomenal.
Learnt a lot from my first decent bikepacking experience:
Take more than a 1 x 9 geared bike (Wales has bigger hills than Essex)
Remove half the kit that I never used.
Buy a much lighter sleeping bag.
Load the route onto my GPS (spent most of our time looking at maps).

Agree with YetiTony...by the end 1x9 was a knee breaker!

Had a great time, great riding, learnt a lot for next time (get that dam rucksack of me back and watch the mileage!!) Only managed to get lost 3 or 4 times..! Winning the Monkey cage/pack was an added bonus...

Met some really good people. Yetiman for the warm welcome to the bikepacking world. A few others i also forgot to ask the names off...

Thanks to Hoojam, Bloohmoo and Simon72 for the shared ride and brew up in fabulous surroundings...

And many thanks to Stuart and Dee for organising, the cakes and tea at the end...super!

Was great to meet you both, nice banter in the pub, your will power was impressive, bloody Wye Valley HPA is addictive stuff, the Landlord certainly saw us coming when he offered his back garden as a bivvy spot, we do seem to be soft targets for these landlords

Ahh, we did wonder where you had got too after bumping into you while we finished off out Fish & Chips in Aber, you missed a fine evening but probably felt fresher in the morning than we did!
