Alternative Bottle for a Travel Tap

Post by Chew »

I like my travel tap, but the bottle is an odd barrel shape. My Monkii cages arrived this weekend and normal bottles fit into them great, but the travel tap is less happy in there.

Are there any bottles which have the same diameter/tread as the travel tap, so i can swap over the lids?

 Thought i'd just solved it then. Its the same thread/diameter as a camelbak podium bottle, but the height of the thread is different so it doesnt seal properly

Anyone know if you can get a rubber O ring thats 60mm diameter x 5mm wide x 3-4mm deep?

Reckon your only option would be to cut one from some 3-4mm rubber sheet ... I might have summat.

60mm x5mm O rings are common place from bearing suppliers and the like. Would that seal it up?

I've searched fruitlessly for an alternative bottle with same diameter and thread pitch.

Yet to find one.

The older travel tap bottles fit monkiis fine as they are a more normal bottle shape, no idea if they are the same thread or if drinksafe have any to sell. They were a smaller size bottle though.

Actually getting any water out of my travel tap became really frustraitingly slow after only a few uses so I am trying a webtex inline filter on a bladder for WRT this year. Maybe I was just unlucky and need a new filter thing.

I'm not overly impressed with my Travel Tap. It works but is a fair effort to suck the water out. Also, when I try to squeeze water out (for cooking), the bottle distorts and the seal at the top leaks untreated water into my pot.

Mines a fair effort to be fair. I tend to find you just have to be patient with it.

Going to try some of these to see if it works
