Do I go with alloy ?
Any help please

I assume these are pre-bent shockcorded poles?
If so, then this should do:

I can only assume they're either not 'real' carbon or are poor show

Thanks Stuart,
I have to confess to buying one of those Lidl tents. I was a bit miffed that between me reading the PSA on hear and buying the tent they got a bit of bad press .
So its in the garden having the sprinkler test to see how bad it leaks
On the scales it comes in at 1.5 kg
Which when split up is
Tent 693
poles 5.1m 468
pegs 11 219
guide ropes 34
Bag 60
So if it survives the sprinkler for an hour or so I was looking to lighten it up on the cheap.
The poles that Stuart suggested would come in at 343g so would loose 125g at a cost of £42.57 ( i will need two sets)
Tent cost £15
Any other suggestions ???

Oscar the grouch does okay. You could fit wheels and tow it behind your bike
Is there anyway you could use the main structure of the tent but use vertical poles (or bike and pole) to hold it up?
As far as saving weight goes, throwing the bag and changing lines and pegs should/could result in a 200g(ish) saving without costing a fortune.

ok thanks for peg option, had a quick look and it seems a good way to loose some weight on the cheap.
Its had an hour under garden sprinkler and all is dry on the inside :D :D , will leave it up for a bit now and see how it goes.
So far I am happy, do not want to spend too much as if its too bad I will be in the local pub
We have a reputation to keep up.

Which Lidl tent is it? I bought the rocktrail single skin one a couple of years ago and the condensation was a killer with it - trying to wriggle out of the tent without getting covered in water was nigh on impossible.

I was thinking one of those lightweight microfibre towels would do the trick - you could wipe the inside of it down before you get out.
