Would you ride this?

I was trawling wikiloc the other day to try to find a route through an area that's about an hour north of here and looked interesting on the map. Eventually unearthed a video of someone riding a section that looked a bit marginal. https://youtu.be/pbqagoeFu8Y
Glad I didn't just set off without researching, I'm not sure the risk outweighs the reward

Isn't that one of Stu's GRs about 2 minutes in?

Oh my
Makes Lonscale fell look a bit puny, but I’m sure the Glenderaterra Beck is a worse landing

No I wouldn't, it's made my legs go funny just watching it, saying that I did nearly go over the bars and over the cliff on the IOW coastal path once when I miss-judged a section of path  but it was dark so I couldn't see the drop to the beach below.

Looks very rideable. But I get vertigo on much nicer/safer looking paths. I think them 2 are nuts especially with walkers on it too.

Don't do it :o

Actually it was the walkers reaction (or lack of it) that surprised me most.

Re walkers, I have never had anything other than encouragement from anyone I've met when riding off road, usually it's a shout of "venga" or "animo" that said I've not normally been in danger of sending both of us over a precipice.

If you were riding a path in the woods that wide and flat, you'd not give it a second thought, would you?

of course not but i think the one thing we can all agree on is that trail is more dangerous than the flat !

It's not exactly plain sailing for the walkers either

It’s the walkers that would put me off. You’ve only got to run into a self-righteous old biddy who tries to bar your way and ask why you don’t have a bell* and it’s all over.

*Answer: you do but she hasn’t replaced the battery in her hearing aid.

Due to a fear of exposure at heights I'd have trouble just walking that.

I think I would. Looks perfectly safe, especially the way the guy in the first video was riding. Don't see an issue.
Actually think I'd enjoy it.

Perfectly safe?

Remind me not to come round to your place when you have your power tools out

It's all relative.
I'd class descending a rocky trail, in the dark, after 12 hours on the bike, tired as closer to something going wrong than meandering along a scenic path with an edge in the dry and light.

Everyones different though, the edge adds a lot of danger for sure, if you don't take the appropriate care :-bd

My guess is that, judging by the reaction of the walkers and how the lead rider is riding, it’s not as precarious as it looks. But perhaps not ‘perfectly safe’

You know how watching 1 you tube clip leads to another then suddenly 2 hours have disappeared? One of the best things about living here is how the long sticky fingers of mass tourism haven't quite reached us and even the coast is pretty unspoilt. The Cataluña tourist board seem to be gently pushing eco and adventure activity and this video shows some of what's on offer. If you skip past the first 6 minutes or so (unless you're a fan of theme parks) all of the places they visit are within half an hour by car from here and are regular inclusions on my bike rides. https://youtu.be/I5hNqIlOSJw
We're currently preparing to increase our B&B capacity to 5 or 6 by the addition of a 5m diameter Bell Tent and are aiming to give this type of activity holiday provision a real go in 2021.

Good luck with that.
Having lived in a 5m bell tent for more than 159 days this year I can highly recommend them! I’d consider a 6m though if you want plenty of room and folk on camp cots. The sloping roof limits the really useful space.

Nae probs, just make sure you look at the trail, and not the drop :???: Actually my biggest issue would be not cracking my head against the overhanging bits...

Re the tent:
The reason for the size is that we have a 5m dia circular concrete pad that was the base of our old pool and is sheltered by hedges. Our neighbours bought one about 2 years ago and have only used it once. They are moving to Holland next Summer so I'm planning to buy it off them. We only plan to house 2 in it to supplement the 3 bed appartment that we have attached to the house.

Similar to the Kings walkway in Spain which was shut not long after this video and made safer as a few people had taken a tumble and fell
