Pipe dream alternatives

Post by tommid »

With Pipedreams being out of stock and being for those up to 6'1 (and me being 6'3), what are my options?
Ideally a similar price to the 400, less than 850g (if possible) and down to 0 for a comfort level as I would rather save weight and carry a down jacket to sleep in etc.

I've thought about the Terra Nova Voyager 600, any other alternatives or views on the Terra Nova.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Johnny,

That looks like a distinct possability. How do you find it? The fill weight is low, but the tempreture limits are very good.

I'm pretty pleased with it. Once I'd got my head around the idea that squished fill under you probably wasn't doing very much I thought I'd take the gamble. Quilts seem to be gaining popularity, this is a quilt with a head section I guess! I pair mine up with a Neoair X therm. I have the large version of both, fitting the mat inside the bag does make it a bit tight but I think I'm guilty of inflating the mat too much. Instead I've just slotted the base of the mat in the foot end and then just popped the elasticated sections under me to form a seal. It makes it easier to slide in when in a bivi-bag. I used it on El-an Back with no issues (albeit in a tent at a low altitude) but it was fine on a very frosty bivi February morning on Aldeburgh beach. At best I was just wearing base layers and a hat.

And because the compression pump sack is pretty small, one of these:
