Having got a bit bored/disilluioned with paying fifty plus quid to ride in circles I'm thinking about trying to organise some riding/racing around Glasgow/Central Scotland/West Highlands - probably loops of 70ish miles but possibly longer. Was toying with the idea of setting a route, meeting up and collating time via GPS/SPOT/Strava. Think we could also have an informal West Highland Way race this way a well. Benefit would include riding proper wild trails, no entry fees, some banter along the way and getting some quality training done for the bigger events. Ideas for loops include trails on Arran, Victoria Bridge - Glen Kinglass - Glen Etive - Glencoe - Victoria Bridge and a 70 miler out the bck of Milngavie which would take in a chunk of the WHW and some nice trail out the back of Ben Lomond (and about 6500ft of climbing!)
Anyone got any thoughts or useful suggestions ? Anybody willing to come out for a ride like this ?
Also toying with the idea of starting up a collective in Glasgow to focus on endurance riding seeing as none of the clubs up here are really into this. My thinking is it would be good to have some training partners and be able to share ideas and experience - anyone up for this ?
