Not exactly quick release but it' stable. Pictured is 1.5l plastic food container with bivi bag. Other side takes small tarp, mini groundsheet and tarp extension. 2l bottle also available so may buy a couple of them as well.

Interested to know how you get on with mounting them on your fork.

I was hoping to do a field test on mine today but something came up I so couldn't get out. Mine where originally cable tied but I gave them a good hard shake today and one of the cable ties snapped so I have now mounted them with a two jubilee clips on each side and they are rock solid. I put some old inner tube wrapped around the fork to protect them and I also tried them in various positions, I ended up with the position that Salsa use to mount their anything goes cages, that is towards the back of the fork only lower down and they look really good.
I was also looking at images of different mounting systems for dry bags and saw someone with them mounted up each fork leg. I reckon I could easily make a mounting system for dry bags like this using the method pictured above, just bigger. I'm going to give it a go but first up is making a bar harness, just waiting for the buckles to arrive.

I have water bottle bosses on the back of my forks that my brother fitted for me a while back so easy.

This thread has been nagging me.Where are Monkii and how do you contact him? I'd be looking to mount 2 either side of my rigid carbon forks so would need 2 cages and mounts, Restless, what do they cost and what is the lead time? Cheers for the info.

Check out Stu's reviews on the blog and/or google cyclemiles. You'll usually need to phone as his www is "under development". Talked to him last week and he was off to Taiwan bike fair. Not sure if anyone else will be manning the phones. Try and see.

i've been looking to add bottle cages to my forks and was thinking along the hose clip/inner tube line, when i noticed these at the weekend in my local halfords for only 2.99 a pair:

i fitted one tonight and although it seems to be secure enough, i'm not totally convinced (yet) it'll survive a day on the trail, however i'll test it out next weekend.

He's in Havant, Hampshire but away till 01/04 now I think. Otherwise he is very fast I spoke to him on the phone and got an email about an hour later saying they were posted.

He has a shop on eBay too. I'm after two of the clips and cages but didn't really want to pay nearly £50 for them. Looks like I will be though as I like that the cages are quick release. I'm going to be doing a trip shortly where I take in a few of the 7Stanes. I will to be using my full-sus which has no space for bottle cages and be ditching all my bikepacking kit as I ride each one...the Monkii stuff will work out ideal for that.

Ah yes - I looked at that site in 2011 before the ride to Switzerland. Went for a Topeak TCM01 on the seat post and zip ties with inner tube as padding on the seat tube to take my Inbred up to 3 bottle cages....

Anyway - good to see that they seem to be keeping that site up to date. Seem to be many more options than when I looked just two years ago.

FAO: inspiredramblings - I stuck an elite clamp plus mount and full 750ml bottle on each of my forks and went out on a 15mile ride yesterday over a mix of trails and road and they coped just fine, no movement whatsoever. would defo recommend, esp as they are only 2.99 each in halfords (cheapest elsewhere online seems to be around 6 or 7 quid.

Cool - is that on suspension forks? I may try them.. Did you use any inner tube behind the clamps to protect the fork / stop slippage?

yes on the suspension forks. i didn't use any inner tubing as the clips come with a kind of rubber rand that goes round the fork. might be an idea to use them for bit of extra protection i guess.
