Making one over the weekend I think I it all covered!?

Cut fabric to size.
footprint will be 2x1meters with poss 7cm lip same height as my exped ul7 mat.
Hem sides or in my case bond them.
Fold ends and sew.
Add groumets for pegging or webbing.

And finally... test :D

This seems straight forward but...There is always something, so if any one has any input then please fire away.
I will put photos up of before, during and after and any comments I have

What are you holding the sides up with ?

I assumed with the right fold at the ends peg out tension would do that..?
Have i missed something?

The sides won't hold themselves up over that length.

Possible options/solutions are:

1/ Sew a vertical sleeve in each corner and use a tent peg in each sleeve to hold it up.
2/ Sew a channel along each side and run a line through it ... again using tent pegs on the corners.
3/ Elasticate the hem on each side, the tension in the eslatic should hold the sides up.
4/ Devise a way of fastening the edge of the groundsheet to your shelter.

Nearly all the bathtub groundsheets available have small rods inserted in each corner. The pegging points are often double too, ie the loop/tie for the peg is sewn to the grounsheet at the top and the bottom so the peg pulls the groundsheet at two points.

I think il go with rods in each corner and add a small webbing tie outs to the top and bottem of rods to provide tension.
I have a few alu peg I will bang back in to shape and cut to size for it.

Once I have master this intend to sew reciveing zips to it to accept a mosquito net but that is part two of this project.

Can't really think of owt ... except, you mention gluing the hems. Don't forget that you'll need to do each one twice, ie, one glue and fold, then a second glue and fold. So long as it's not silnylon then evostick works fine

Don't forget to take and post plenty of photos

so the ground sheet fabric arrived saturday morning and i immeadiately opend it and weighed the uncut weight.

I just need to add some shock cord for tie outs and then it is all readying for this coming weekend.

weight so far at 1x2.2 meters plus 10cm sides is 270grams.
i will add a final picture of it set up in the field.

End result and much needed this weekend.

Things i would do different next time would be to do away with the rods in each corner and use shock cord around the top of the walls and prop them up with gear or tie outs to the tarp.

Overall i am satisfied with this as i intend to add a detachable mozi net either with velcro on zips.

I have two more MYOG project lined up for the coming months one a tarp and the other a quilt, naturally i will post details and pictures I hope any or everyone enjoyed my post :)
