Cordillera v4 is now available to purchase. As last year all proceeds are for the college education of Linnaea Blumenthal whose father died during TD2010:

Smashing, duly ordered.

For anyone who hasn't seen/read a previous copy then I urge you to order youself one. Every volume's been a great read and as Blackhound says, the money raised goes to a very good home.

I arrived at Brush Mountain Lodge in 2011 and on the way up I recalled that Dave B had stopped there briefly and died the following morning on the descent towards Steamboat Springs. It was in my mind that evening and next morning.

You only see the lodge at the last minute and I had broken my bike computer about 30 miles earlier and was guessing distance. Anyway, I suddenly saw a lady on the track who asked me who I was and that the lodge was just around the corner. I asked the lady her name and she said Lexie and staying at the lodge and she was remarking on the sunset. I knew this was the name of Dave's wife but was not sure if a coincidence or not and did not know what to say. I later found out over a meal it was Dave's wife and the next morning their 5 year old daughter Linaaea was up and about as well. Lexie was on about perhaps doing the TD sometime. Lexie was a lovely lady, I only spoke with Linaaea very briefly as I had a race to ride.....

One more minor recollection; during October 2010 I was in a wooden lodge in Vermont. I was supposed to hire a mtb that day but I had no wet weather gear so did some TD research instead. I realised I was in the woods where DaveB was a member and the following day we were driving across to his home town of Montpelier to have a look around. I recall being quite sad those few days.
