Need a midge proof lightweight shelter that's smaller than the tarptent I have already.

Ha ha. Alright if you want. I have actually got one too but I cheated and ordered it from the states.
A mate of mine was in Vegas so I had it sent to his hotel to avoid the duty and shipping. Cost me £140 all in. Actually only got it off him today so I guess you win...

What are the main differences between the lunar solo and the skyscape trekker? Besides the lunar being taller in the middle?
Can they both be used with a regular collapsible pole rather than a walking pole?

Quick glance suggests two poles for the skyscape rather than one for the lunar solo.

My existing pole works perfectly with it, not tried a walking pole in there.

Yours is the lunar solo?

Flatfishy's right the lunar solo is one pole compared to two.

I've got a carbon pole for with my lunar solo but it works with a trekking pole too.

I saw on their site that their own easton carbon pole isn't compatible...what alternatives work with it?

What are they like for warmth in the UK?

I've got the Skyscape 'Scout' and it's a mighty fine piece of kit in my opinion!

I used it in some pretty crappy weather in the Alps last year and it kept me warm and dry (apart from the first night as I'd not sealed the seams properly ).

The 'Trekker' that you were talking about is silnylon and so, I imagine, will function similarly to the scout but be that little bit lighter.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that you're tall (sorry if I made this up) and so at 6'2" I've found a fair few 1 man tents to be too small for real comfort but the Skyscape's have plenty of room inside 'em for the taller gentleman (or lady!).

The only (slight) issue I have is that when using it with a (very) thick mat my toes have sometimes touched the outer (at the foot end where it's single-skin) but only occasionally and only with my silly big Mammut mat.

And yeah, I use regular collapsible poles as opposed to walking sticks (I bought them from SMD to make sure the sizing worked perfectly).

I'm 6' tall so not TOO bad really.
I just read a bit more on the skyscape and saw that it can run with fixed length poles.
I also saw that it has mesh on both sides and the 'fly' can be opened on both sides too.
What you lose in head height in the middle you seem to gain in other places.
I have to admit i've been leaning towards the skyscape for a while. :D

I'd never heard of lightheart, but they look great!

I keep looking at the Lunar solo, they look great. Or the Wild Oasis tarp they do. Very tempted to have a reorganise and get one
