Dave, it looks like it's similar terrain to the Divide. It is advertised as MTB, though the pics don't make it look tech.

Looks to go through some of (what in my mind are) the more interesting states

I was looking at the route round Moab which I know and it would be horribly cruel as you go past the Porcupine Rim trailhead and down the Sand Flats road into Moab. Having said that not sure I fancy Porcupine Rim fully loaded.

S2S is deffo going to be the race to do. I think this will take over from TD.

The first climb out of Salida is brilliant and it just keeps getting better as you climb to over 13,000' a couple of times.
I got as far as Salida on my ATR5000 and was gutted to have to quit as the next 2000 were the reason for signing up in the first place!

From my research of the route, there is little tech but thats made up by conditions of the trail, the logistics of resupply and reliability of your bike; no bike shops from Salida onwards.

The final days through Oregon took the leaders ages - its nothing but up and down for 500 miles... think of a 5xSouth Downs Way with only half a dozen resupply points.

I can't plan for it this year for obv reasons such as getting into the USA safely and the thought of spreading in rural communities but it'll be on the schedule for next time.

One thought is that the altitude from the off might cause issues.
