Southern Upland Way, how big are the boggy bits?

Has anyone ridden the Southern Upland Way? The official site says parts of it are unsuitable for cycling due to boggy bits. I don't mind a bit of pushing but can you tell me how much pushing was involved due to the boggy bits? What time of year did you do it? Thanks.

The boggy bits are boggy most of the year - we did it during the summer. The bad bits I remember were south of Sanquar and inbetween New Luce and Bargrennan - quite a lot of the bad bits can be avoided though. Were you planning on doing the whole lot or just some sections?

I put a bit of a write up on the section from Portpatrick to Dalry in this thread

I was thinking of doing the whole thing. I already know the route from Scabcleugh near St Mary's Loch to The Three Brethren near Selkirk. Apparently the worst bits are to be found between the start and Beatock. I read your report with interest and I will check my maps to see where the bad bits are you mention, thanks.
Actually, i've just now checked the official site again which says to contact the Rangers who will give advice about cycling it.
