Kind of - sold my Carver 96er frame and 6 years later bought another. However, I didn't sell it because I didn't like it, I just liked the look of something else more.

Loved my bike. Really, really, loved it.

Was offered an amount far higher than its true worth so sold it.

Spent six months trying to make new bike work in same configuration as old loved one. Failed. Sold it.

Bought another, same as old much loved, bike. Just wasn't the same. Sold it.

Moral of the story?

No.

I dont sell my bikes I just ride them till they are unfixable/obsolete.

I sell parts but have only twice sold whole bikes and they were both for mates .

I do miss how well my Orange 5 descended I dont miss riding it uphill though which is why I got something different. that i snt uite as good downhill but much better overall.
No offence and said with affecton from a mate, but the problem here is you and not the the bikes you want; the perfect bike for you is out there but only for a few months of ownership.

You just like buying bikes and think one day you will find one so perfect you stop, you wont anymore than the steel cross bike i bought to last for ever will still be mine in 4 years time - everything will need replacing and a new bike is about the same as a complete groupset [and i can go above 35 mm tyres] so I will get a new one despite it being servicable -its not really for life though i have had since the scottish youth hostel you organised - not sure what year that was.
Its just how you are just like I think 26 aint dead - it is when i need new forks.

Just buy a bigger shed so you don’t need to ever sell a bike. My bikes are ageing but they become worthless- I end up changing them to a slightly different use. The only challenge then is choosing which one to use

I've done this twice now. Never again.

Someone asked me if I would sell it and caught me on the wrong day so I said yes.
Gravel bikes were the thing. Mmmmm shiny new.
Two replacement bikes and two years later I asked if he would sell it back?
Answer no because he has never ridden it and it was still in the boxes it was shipped in.
So now got another ti Stooge 650 version but with all the mods I was going to put on the first one.
Long and expensive way for just a layback seat post and shorter stem.

Moral of the story. If you don't like yer bike re configure it.

Not quite. Always resisted buying the same thing but lots of bike I look back on and think I want them back. Often buy a similar bike.

For me bikes evolve from their predecessors.
I only have ever bought one mountain bike. A 1991 steel Rockhopper. I upgraded the parts until I swapped in a new frame. The Rockhopper was downgraded and an Orange Clockwork was born. I upgraded the parts and swapped in a new frame. So on and so forth until you arrive at my current Fargo and Krampus via an Orange P7, Thorn eXXp and a Nicolas Helius CC. All of which still live or have died of old age.

No, have bought and sold (nearly ) as many as you. No regrets selling any. What replaced them were a progression to what I wanted.

not sold one and regretted it yet but feel I am on the verge of doing so - currently trying to sell a Brompton which has seen very little use since I bought it but I wanted to keep it, but sadly needs must financially.

Yep, sold my surly straggler around 4 years ago as I needed the money to repair a van, it's the only bike I've ever regretted selling and I've missed it ever since. I've just put an order in for a new straggler frame and can't wait for it to arrive, as nice as my croix de fer is it's just not a straggler.
