I've still not visited Great Lingy Hut, are the routes north of Skiddaw gravel friendly or is it mtb territory?

MTB really. Obviously they can be ridden on a gravel bike, but best suited to MTB. There's a bit of pushing to reach Lingy hut whichever way you go and it'll be pretty wet by now. The lower mine tracks are gravel friendly.
