Anyone tried these? I'd like the option of carrying stuff on my forks but can't bring myself to buy salsa cages till they fix the design. Rather like the QR version of these. Looks like it would carry a 5l alkit xtra drybag each side ok to me, opinions?

I've got one, very light, very well made. Springy stainless so very little chance of one snapping.

Think I reviewed it on the WRT blog a couple of years ago.

Stu, I've been eying this one myself. Does the MkI version snap firmly on to the frame tube? When mounted on the bottom of the down tube, do you think it would hold on with a full 1.5-2l water bottle?

The MK1 verson fits well but only on 'skinny' tubes, there's no way it'll fit on an aluminium tubed frame ... the mounting bands aren't a big enough diameter.

I came across these last night - http://www.freeparable.com/monkiicagev The sites a little odd but click on the 'feature' button for a proper picture. They also sell tool rolls that go in the cage.

I emailed cyclemiles to ask what size bottle the cages will take -
Up to 100mm (4 inches) diameter comfortably.
It will go wider than that, the wings that grip the bottle/flask/container are quite flexible, albeit, I haven't tried it with any container with a wider diameter than 100mm.
I'm guessing they'd take a bag ok instead.
Not sure I am gonna buy any though

What we need here is some kind of person who does opinions on gear once they've used them and has a news outlet and a bit of a track record of doing this sort of stuff. He could get in touch with them, ask for a sample to review, and tell all his avid fans how good / bad they are :?

Oh.

Hi Stu ;)

I can't get my head around their website :?
What's the difference between the Monkii Cage V and Monkii Cage - they look identical?

The V clips on sideways for small frames rather than top down

Took me ages to work that out, worst website ever!

Amen to that.

Then again, written by folks in Taiwan IIRC, so a boatload better than I could have produced if the boot was on the other foot
