Hi
Need a shelter for the spring.
I'm sure it will get here at some stage.
What do you reckon, tarp, such as rig7
Or, tent such as ak delta?
Currently have a small two man ten
That is a little heavy.
I am on a budget.
Cheers

A tarp's obviously going to give your more options but it's fair to say that some folk just can't sleep well under one for whatever reason.

I'm playing about with a Delta at the minute. With the inner removed (or butchered to make a bathtub groundsheet) and a few niggles put right (just working on them and nothing major) the Delta will/should make a great tarptent. It's quick to pitch, offers enough space for 2 and I'm hoping will come in somewhere between 750 and 850g depending on pegs.

Really interested to see what you come up with for the Delta Stu, I'd been tempted by them but was a little unsure. How much protection do you think you would get from it as a tarp tent setup, i.e. would you need a bivvvy bag inside as well?

I'd say that as long as you had a groundsheet of some sort, you wouldn't need a bivvy bag.

My thoughts on the AlpKit Delta are on the blog.
