Hooped bivis?

Is there a decent one? The Terra Nova one doesn't look bad? Army goretex one?

Started thinking I should really try a bivi bag again but I am far too lazy to mess with tarps at the end of a day. Also I think I'd have had a more pleasant night last night in a bivi bag than a tent which the wind was trying to rip to pieces.

IMO the best would be either a TN or RAB because of the material (Goretex and eVent) ... FLV was selling a RAB Ridge Raider.

I've heard some good reports about the Vaude, seems like it's got a foot end vent and top vents so condensation doesn't seem to be much of an issue. There's also a foot end pole to keep the bag off you a little.

The vaude is a better price, seems to lack midge netting though

Personally, i've never seen the point of a hooped bivi.

Seems like you get the worst of both worlds (tent/bivi), without any of the benefits. No room to sit up in and cook, and you're pitching options are going to be limited, with it being tent like

Condensation was the biggest issue for me in the RAB. I had to leave the door half open (midge closed though) to manage it and even then I got some moisture in there.
I worked fine for one nighters but for longer trips condensation ended up wetting the sleeping bag more and more.

The Rab was very well put together and much quicker to get set up than a tent, as long as you dont mind getting undressed outside.
If the weights are accurate on the vaude Its as light as the rab.
