Gelert solo- I'm 5'8" and find it too small, once your in it you can't do much except sleep. It does keep the rain off and pitches easily. Weighs in at 1.5kg. I paid £25 new for mine which is ok for what it is but would I have bought it if i'd known what it was going to be like - no.

How about a Wild Country Aspect 1? ... big porch and enough height to sit up. Couple of quid over budget though.

Or a Wld Country Zephros 1 ... if you keep looking they do turn up for around your budget. Again, they've a big porch and good headroom.

No matter how cheap a Gelert Solo is, it's hard to reccomend due to size and weight.

The AlpKit Delta would be worth a punt too ... from what I understand the inner's not as much of a problem as it seems. There's also the option of using it without the inner, which would result in a very spacious, lightweight shelter.

I've got a 1 man tent that i'm VERY happy with (a SMD 'Skyscape Scout' tent - it's a little above your stated budget even if you avoid the customs charges) and yet I find I'm still tempted by that Alpkit one.

Seems like a steal for use as a well shaped tarp-tent (and then the inner is a bonus if you found it useable).

Looking at the spec there's two things that would put me off, fibreglass poles and inner pitch first.

A Force Ten Vitesse would be a far better bet. They're single skin but aren't bad for condensation, there's also just enough room for 2 + gear. Dead easy and quick to pich/strike and as with most Force Ten stuff, it's very well made.

Robens summer wind looks good to me, it use walking poles to set up or a ridge line.
I am just waiting for my local cotswold to get one in so i can see how i could use my wheels to run a ridgeline.

That Robens one doesnt sound so good.
The big advantage is a weight of only 1400g
 Thats an awful lot when your not including the weight of any poles. Also the packsize is huge.

No direct experience but good points are ... alloy poles and outer pitch first, bad points are weight and pack size.

In all honesty the Wild Country Aspect up there ^^^ is the best of the bunch by a long way.

Have you considered a tarp? plenty of room under an AlpKit bicycle if pitched well.
