I've seen a few pics of folk on bikes riding the track that runs below the cliffs on the west side but it is shown as footpath on the map ... are people just cheeky or is a blind eye turned?

ridden that with a old mate many years ago.
I was just following him, so don't know if it is legal.
we rode it as part of a loop from llandegla, taking in horse shoes pass and café.

Definitely a footpath - it's actually part of the Offa's Dike path. From memory when I climbed on the various crags there, it's not a wide track and quite exposed. As for "a blind eye turned" no idea.

I’ve cycled it and got zero hassle from walkers. It is a footpath but it’s wasted on the walking crowd

Mid week and you’ll be unlucky to get caught, doing it at the weekend would be quite selfish (oh the irony!)

Trevor Rocks, great path, gives me the heebie jeebies in places though, been awhile since I rode it, needs discretion in terms of when to ride it.

That looks like an absolute gem. Ride it then say your very sorry.

Ride it, stop and pull over for more vulnerable trail users, greet everyone cheerfully. I find this works for pretty much all trails, regardless of how they're dotted on the map (or not).

Ride it and enjoy, I say! Assuming you'll not be ploughing through walking groups at light speed (I know you won't) I'd just plead ignorance and ask forgiveness if anyone says something. As above I generally slow pull the side say 'Hi' etc anyway and everyone still has a nice day out.

But, It does wind me up when I see threads on STW with MTBers treating PROWs as trail centre downhill routes and wondering why other users complain about them. Also them complaining about sanitisation of routes which were never meant to be technical climbs or decents for MTBs and are usually in highly used areas suffering erosion due to popularity. Sorry, better go and drink my earl grey and relax!

As above i would ride it because its hardpack so you are not doing any damage, its bogland ROW [ including BW] I steer away from due to the potential to damage.

Clearly being polite out on the hills helps everyone even more so when you are being cheeky. Does look cracking let me know when the mass start is

Yup, very much a footpath, but have ridden it many a time..
It’s lovely in the summer, mid week, after about 1800hrs you’ll have it all to yourself!

Its known as Worlds End. A great path!
Ive got mates who ride down that way on a weekly basis so i doubt they get hassle. A footpath though ☹

Footpath but as others said it's been in common use by bikers for at least 3 decades. Avoid at peak weekend times if possible and pull over and say hi to the hikers with a smile. Anyone complains keep smiling whilst you ride off.
