Definitely can't make that one unfortunately. My missus would castrate me if I missed her birthday to ride bikes!

Definitely want to try and do this again in 2019. Will sort the entry request in due course

I've wanted to ride this route since the first one.
I'll do a bit of research but hope to make it this time of possible

IF I lose the weight I'm planning to lose this year and IF Mrs Gairy doesn't veto my plans then I'd love to head back to finish what I (barely) started in 2016.
Such a great route.

Me and Mrs B are very keen on this. I even have the time off work
Does the quality of posttcard impact on likely entry??

Technically no, practically it's part of the fun so maybe

but not really, a draw is quicker than a judging process!

Reckon I'd submit my postcard inside an envelope containing both postcard and cheque for £40 payable to Smart Shelter

Oh... and James, if you did still want to head out there at some point to do some off road scouting, feel free to let me know.

I reckon you'd be in Stu, with a beer voucher for the dinner in Turin
(did think about that angle on entry, but remembered a guy last year who donated a welcome 5E as that was all he said he could afford and rode to the start too. Look at what happened to Glastonbury...

)

Will do, cheers Richard. So much good MTB stuff around Briancon... No plans to change the route this year though, works for me to just iron out a couple of typos etc and re-issue same route info. That in itself would save enough time for a long weekend's riding, a week away even!

I'm out this year - HT550 will use up all my family credit - but wish I could do it again!

Just seen that the entries may close at the end of the week due to the volume received. Looks like I had better try and get hold of a postcard fast!!

Jeez-o, thanks for the warning.
Just nipped in the lunch hour to select a thick, glossy one of Edinburgh castle, which is hopefully thick and glossy enough to draw James' fingers to

Ditto, just nipped into town to get one from the tourist info centre. Selection was somewhat disappointing... hoping it doesn't count against me!!

Difficult isn't it? Do you buy a big and rather impressive one in the hope of attracting attention, or will that go against you and make it appear that you're trying too hard? Do you buy a smaller plain card in the hope of sympathy and attracting the underdog vote or will that simply get caught up amongst the hundreds of other cards? A cheque must be the way forward
