Is it always about the bike?

I guess being a bikepacking forum everyone shares a love of cycling and sleeping out. Is it always about the bike though or do you folks have other outdoor activities that you partake in?
The reason I ask is that I seem to be going off cycling lately and have little desire to ride. I feel myself getting more excited about getting out walking.
Prime example is that I've got the idea of a trip to Aviemore in January and whilst I should be planning a bikepacking epic, I'm thinking more about a multi day hike.
Anyone else's interest wane sometimes?

I love my ski touring/mountaineering in the winter, snowholing etc.
Though I am just about to pick up a fat bike for snow and summer "hell biking"!!
And they say men can't multi- task

Yep. I almost feel a fraud posting sometimes given my lack of epics or even hours in the saddle. Doesn't really bother me though, so long as I'm doing something, bike related or not.

up until the beginning of 2012 i'd have answered "no - the bike is only part of the whole picture" but since discovering bikepacking it's definitely become mostly about the bike (with a sniff of everything else thrown in).
also, being out of action for a while at the same time as having a new frame to build up only added to my obsession with 'the bike'.
having said that i love my hiking and other outdoor activities and am certainly looking forward to some hike-up-board-down trips this winter in the Alps!
i'm also hoping to dig me a snow hole (snow depth allowing) and spending the night in it which will be cool.
all the kit i've accumulated via bikepacking has opened up opportunities in other areas too such as using my new lights for some night running which is a first.
it's all good!

I used to do a lot of climbing/ bouldering, but couldn't devote the time to be increasingly proficient at both, therefore I returned to my first love, which is the bike.

Same as Ian, I'd love to get into lots of other things, including hiking, but I just don't have the time if I want to cycle relatively "seriously". I can see myself hiking more when I'm (a lot!) older :D

I guess as long as people are out enjoying the outdoors, everything is good!
Maybe when we're all retired, we can have the Bear Bones Rambling club
