Surplus to requirements is my Spot mk1.
Well looked after, although, as you can see by the picture, the black Spot logo has rubbed off due to being carried in my bag whilst out riding. Other than that it's in excellent condition.
Still have the box with all the paperwork that it came with.
£40 + £5 recorded postage.

what's the difference between the Mk1 and the Mk2???
is it just the customisable messages?
if so are there different non-customisable messages you can send with the Mk1?

Customisable messages
Newer patch antenna
Smaller unit
Mk1 has a longer battery life though.
The Mk1 has 3 messages available
OK sent to pre determined recipient.
Help(this goes to a pre determined recipient like the wife for non emergency help i.e. a pringled wheel).
911, this goes to the Spot HQ in Texas where they co-ordinate a rescue involving the emergency services in your locale.

fair enough.
so.....with the subscription do i have to pay by the year with the Spot folks or are there options as to which service i use (for example i saw that Ian was using another service for the BB200).
sorry for the questions but i'm ignorant and new to all of this.
but i'm very interested and i very much like the idea of getting one 2nd hand and cheap!
cheers, gairy.

Yearly subs=
€99 for the basic package
€39.99 for tracking
The service all goes via Spot. What Ian used was a free program then imported the data to that program which is why his looks different to most.
You should be able to find all the answers on the Spot website using the Spot overview tab(top left).
