As to what we’ll get. Probably a mixture of everything; this is the UK after all.

I'll be there Friday, but rolling down on 2 wheels in the morning.

Based on the current guess, probably mid to low teens, mostly overcast with some rain. They only really have any reliability 3 days ahead - beyond that anything could happen and it's informed guesswork. Is it too early to start Omming?*

The plan is to be @ the Star...and roll down in the morning on Lois. I expect to get wet at some point over the 3 days, if not all of them.

Wifey and I will be in the Star. I predict the possibility of showers on Saturday gradually improving over the weekend, it could be windy. Shame it's not the following weekend as that looks nice.

I start Le Jog the weekend after, so nice weather sounds ideal

I too shall be at the star, the weather will be glorious.

Will be at the star using my favourite mode of transport. Weather will be grey sky with a bit of drizzle* as it always is round here.

Was changing bushings, went to press new ball joint into the wheel carrier and I can just press it straight through with my hand. So need new wheel carrier, brand new would be insane money so gonna have to go via breaker route, and all a bit late in the day to get sorted for next weekend considering I'm gonna probably struggle to remove them from the driveshafts given the 200k miles the car has done!
Swapped steering rack on the rx-8 though, so that's good to go, but 500+miles at less than 20mpg to get to WRT is also a bit too spendy given recent situation...

Was thinking of making The Star for a few swallies! Be rude not to, really.
What’s the score with the camping/ dossing int’ car park? Do you just turn up or is it better to arrive announced?

Just done a test pack, 29lbs without food and water last WRT on the ECR i scored a whopping 62lb
I’m sure I’ll find a bit more but I think I’ll manage to resist temptation.

13.2kg? That's bike and all your kit but no food/water? Impressive!

Bike and bags come to 13.8kg, there's probably 3kg of kit and clothes to add.

Tent, sleeping mat and bag, repair stuff,cooking and water filter, I’ll chuck in some long johns and a top to sleep in (I made that mistake once) but I’m hoping for 31lb max. It’s taken a year of trips and BAM,s but I’m finally getting it sorted. I wish I’d embraced TLS when I did jogle, my Dummy weighed at least 3 times as much as the Fargo.

Is it just me, or doesn't everyone's bike weigh over 13kg (29lb) without any luggage?!

I'm at ~13.5kg (30lb) for the bare bike, plus about 5-6kg (11-13lb) of luggage including CamelBak but excluding food and water, total somewhere up to 20kg (45lb) plus 4kg (9lb) of food and water — and I'm happy with that (until I get to the first ascent).

Last year my old full-susser was 14.5kg (32lb) for the bike, plus, I think, 13kg (29lb) of luggage incl. CamelBak, total about 27.5kg (60-61lb) ... plus 3kg of food and water on top

Last year was my first WRT and first bike-packing event. Lessons learnt, much TLS, but in reality not much new kit, so mostly TLS, should result in 6-8kg saved this year Having just gone through my list again, the only place I could reasonably save weight now would be food, but that would then require planning for stops, which I'm trying to avoid.

Of course, no matter what we say here, Taylor will have the last laugh on Saturday

Thanks for all the offers for lifts - I just can't quite make it work, I currently don't have a setup or anything - I'd do better sorting out a few things (including a vehicle) and some local bike riding.

Believe it's encouraged to sleep in the car park.
Best to email/ring in advance so they know how many people to cater for.
You wouldn't want them yourself run out of beer
