Not sure if this has been asked before but what do those of you, who like me, need a proper brew of coffee in the morning do? Also, if a small and very light bit of kit was available to brew 1-2 cups of coffee at a time then would you invest a few quid in one?

Just fits in my Alpkit Ti mug but TBH I'm not sure its worth the hassle - I usually take some of the little coffee satchets now - the upmarket suff that Nescafe have just bought out (can't remember the name ATM) and they are fine

I use these nowadays for ease of use and packing.

Coffee, pffft. You need the proper stuff:

Nescafe sachets stolen from hotels. Light, cheap, easy. Gross.
Lyons coffee bags. Expensive. Palatable, but a bit weak.
Moka pot. My favourite, but heavy and bulky.
Aeropress. Best coffee, but even bigger than a Moka pot.
MSR Mugmate. Light-ish, makes good coffee though a bit sludgy. Probably the best compromise.

Tea drinkers of the world unite ... for those who favour a mans drink, I can vouch for Typhoo instant tea. It produces an okay brew, although a touch strong. Throwing a bit of milk powder into it before use sorts it out though ... no faff, no messing about

I got into drinking green tea at work as you don't need sugar and milk for it...I don't hardly have any other hot drinks now. Gives you your caffeine fix too.

I either use Tetleys or Teapigs...I've tried most others, a lot of it tastes like it looks though!

These. They're actualy mini filters rather than bags with REAL coffee in them. None of that instant muck....

Yeah the Sainsbury's ^ or Lyons proper coffee bags. The filter ones take a while and if its cold they can loose temp by time its ready, so its usually the Lyons for me.

Turkish/Cowboy. Add ground to cup, add water, and wait til it sinks. Very finely ground stuff will sink more readily, althogh it's very dependent on the grain.

+1 for cowboy coffee.

although mate of mine has a ti msr press; very nice.

Regarding Turkish/Cowboy coffee, my other half says that the grounds sink if you add a couple of drops of cold water to the cup. I expect I'll be finding out whether thats the case halfway through my forthcoming Brittany excursion when I've ripped through all my Sainsbury's bags . Two days to go 8-)

Waitrose do a version that are also good.

Starbuck's Via tie with those individual filter coffees from Sainsbury in the taste to hassle ratio, with the via winning in the lack of waste to carry out stakes.

I'd rather drink my own piss than instant coffee :twisted:

I'm gonna try the cowboy method as I've never found a bag that makes a coffee anywhere near strong enough to make it drinkable and not sure I can be bothered to carry anything extra.

Usually just stick to Earl grey (or sunshine grey or lady grey) in the mornings and mint tea in the afternoon when camping. But I drink these alot normally anyway.
