Hi all.
At the moment I have a DD 3x3 tarp but it’s pretty massive and heavy.

Anyone got any recommendations of something smaller and lighter?
I’ve been looking at the Alpkit 3.5 but it’s quite a lot.

Is it good value or is there another that is better value?

You can`t really go wrong with Alpkit tarps for price or quality.

Prices seem to have gone up generally regarding outdoor kit, I paid £35 for the R-i-g3.5 a couple of years ago, it's £55 now. The Alpkit tarps are as good as you are going to get at the cheap end of the market.

The Alpkit stuff is well made and as has been said it's good value. You could always sell your DD 3x3 to recoup some money back if you're going to switch over to the lighter tarp. Although I still have all the tarps I've bought and made 'just in case'

If he was surely the heavier tarp wouldn't be an issue, he can put out up to 1900w in short bursts to drag the extra weight up any short inclines

I’ll keep the 3x3 as I use it for Canoe expeds where the weight is less of an issue and the extra space is nice to have.

Are there any alternatives of the same sort of size and weight?

I've not got one but I have one of their tents so would expect it to be well made. It's slightly heavier than the alpkit (67g) but also £15 cheaper. It's polyester rather than ripstop nylon, but I don't know how that affects performance. I would think Stu would know what affect this would have?
