Salamandre bikes

Last week I got an email form a guy in the south of the Ardeche who said that he’d been given my details by two people within an hour and so he thought he’d get in touch.

Yann is a custom frame builder and avid bikepacker and so it seemed daft not to head down there, meet him and go for a ride.

I couldn't resist sharing a few photographs of a few of his fat-bikes as they're beautifully made and perfect for bikepacking duties.

Here are two single-speed beasts he made:

Stunning looking frames!

And here is his latest creation - it's a long wheel-based behemoth of a machine:

Next to my 29er for comparisons sake:

You may notice that our frame-bags share a family resemblance - this is because we both got 'em from Ian and Beth (apparently Beth was one of the two who suggested he might look me up - thanks Beth).

Basically he offers an affordable way to get a custom bikepacking bike (he doesn't just do fat-bikes).

To find out more and read all about his bikes/services have a look at his website:

Salamandre Cycles

All I need to do now is find a convincing argument as to why I need to get one of these!

Cheers, Gairy.

Not a problem if you're using Chrome... Google translate works wonders :)

Those bikes look cool. Though I can make my own weigh enough without the extra frame length and bag space...
