Colour choice.

I once had a Carver 96er, in fact this one in the picture.

Image

It was one of only a few frames I regret selling, so a couple of weeks ago I bought another one to replace it. The new one is a little rough round the edges but will come up nicely with some new paint ... but what colour? I'm not adverse to a bit of Candy, Pearl or even mild flake but nothing too 'in your face'. My question is, what colour should I spray it? I'm quite liking the idea of a Candy gold over silver - like this but open to suggestions.

On the CO MOTION web site they have a load of great colour charts, pearl and glittery as well as normal gloss type finishes, may help to choose? Laters.

Nice frame! I have a Trek 69er SS in Root Beer hanging in the garage waiting to be lovingly put back on the trail. One day.
Can't really help you with the colour though, being colour blind! Are you talking all over or a fade from front to back? Sounds fun.

Fade, most certainly not Peter, it's not 1987.

Me and you both - that's why I'm asking.

Seafoam green with pearl white accents, my favourite colour scheme for any bass guitar. You could add sparkle and other adornments depending on your predilections. :-bd

Or classic HRC racing colours like the RC30, still the best looking race bike ever made in my opinion.

I've got a thing about an orange basecoat with a translucent yellow top coat - when I have a custom frame it will have this colour.

Or bright orange, or yellow.

Don't you think a 96er, or 69er is a proper parts bin bike?

I have a frame I would like to paint. How much faff is it? What kind of paint do you use?

I think you should replicate the BB jersey - colours and the bear

Certainly Steve. :-bd I do like the way they ride though.

It's lots of faff Bridget and usually works out more expensive than getting a frame powdercoated. Ideally you'll need to blast the frame first and you'll need somewhere indoors to paint it that you don't mind stinking of paint for a few weeks.

Trek 69er SS - how I loved that bike. One I would happily ride again.

Ooh yeah
I like your gold over silver.
Or root beer
There was a kona from the early 90s that had a bronze paint job. Lovely.
There was an old citroen berlingo colour option that was a sort of metallic yellow green.
Really quite striking but you wouldn't want matching shoes.

If you were to opt for Poison Ivy Green, would that make me a trend setter?

Personally, metallic candy apple red.

Alternatively, if there was ever a fella I thought could pull this off, pink

If you like that green* guitar then I'll happily spray it for you as I'm currently spraying that colour and adding a frame to the job would be no problems

*Land Rover Seafoam Green

Swoons at carver 69er, I looked for one for ages and gave up in the end

Pentland powder coating (Lasswade) do a good job, is about £45 for a good powder coat, much tougher than paint...and they can add sparkles. Had my Inbred done a few years back, still looks great

I have an ally frame with carbon seat stays that I would like to paint. Not the carbon bits, just the ally. Some parts of it are ok, I just don't like the white and I don't want the name all over it either. I did think about trying to wrap those bits, but I thought it would get dirt in around the joins and look crap after a while. Has anyone tried to do this? This is the same frame as I have, its not a pic of my bike though, I just stole it off google. The non-white bits are a dark sparkly purple that looks ok.
