Just been reading What Mountain Bike, apparently 650b wheels/tyres are what we should have been riding all along, just when we were getting into 29ers here in the UK as well. Anyone tempted? Anyone got any thoughts? I could put one out back of my 69er and have an.......erm b9er. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue does it (ahem).

I was about to find out! I'm selling my frame and fork in the classifieds though...not working at the mo, so having to get rid. I don't know if I haven't had much interest in it because it's 650b or folk haven't heard of the brand?
The biggest obstacle for 650b has been tyre availability. That's starting to change now, with a few diferent brands catering for it. It's seems to have been taking off in the US because a lot of folk having been fitting the wheels to their 26" wheel frames. I don't think that's such a good idea over here though, as mud clearance could be an issue.

Looked at running it on my ala carte, 29er parts seem a ball ache in most bike shops, 650b drew so many blank looks

I am quite interested in 650b bikes and cant wait to see where they fit best in the current bike market, i currently have a 26" &29er bike and find them both great machines for differnt jobs my next bike will be sporting 26 3/8 or 26 1/4 and rod brakes I wonder if they will bring those back?
