There is, apparently, a sub-interest / discipline / thing about archery in Tae Kwon Do, which was one of the things that piqued my interest:



And of the little I've done before there seems to be a slightly meditative aspect to it. Then again, being the squat apey beast I am a crossbow might be more appropriate

After the discussion on the "one map" thread (which makes a nice change from the usual "one bike" threads you get on most bike forums from time to time, but I digress), when I remembered my vague plan to paper a wall with maps, I spent a few idle minutes looking at job lots of old maps on eBay. I didn't come with much other than a few people selling stacks of 20 year old Landrangers for a fiver each, but I did see a listing for 18 "vintage maps" mostly OS (and a few Bartholomew) of varying scales and ages from the pink Landrangers right back to the blue covered cloth ones, and mostly relatively interesting places. Since the starting bid was £2 and they were only a couple of miles from me, I stuck a bid in - the only bid as it turned out. There's nowhere near another to cover a wall, but it seemed rude not to, and it's a start.

I arranged to go and collect them, and the lady mentioned she had quite a few other maps, and if I was interested could have a look, and could have take the lot for £15. Which is how I've ended up with 40l rucksack full of maps and a slightly sore back There's a few 1990s A-Zs and other useless junk, but quite a selection of wall-worthy stuff. I haven't actually opened any yet (hoping they're not all covered in writing something) but quite looking forward to sitting down with a beer and going through them. If you don't hear from me for a few days...

Just checked and the actual postman has also been, and brought another eBay bargain inspired by this forum, specifically the "waterproof gloves" thread: a pair of practically new Bar Mitts drop bar pogies (£13 delivered). Going on eBay after visiting here is the online equivalent of going to the kebab shop on the way home from the pub

When I was reading TTTGTME I kept having flashes of the 'peasants and King Arthur' scene from Holy Grail - "Who are you?", "I am Arthur, King of the Britons. I am your king", "Well I didn't vote for you" etc etc. Wrong century? Wrong millenium?

High torque riveting tool for a handsome sum of £15 including steel zinc coated rivnuts. To go in the carbon frame and put bottle one rung lower and thus hopefully saving weight over a side loader...

I know nowt about carbon bikes but is it as simple as metal frames and just boshing in a riv-nut?

Need to ensure you dont use an alu rivnut as the marriage causes corrosion. A bit unsure as to which epoxy to use to create a secondary (first will be the grip from the squished rivnut) bond for ling term durability and need to ensure you dont make a hole that's gonna fray the fibres. Sharp/top quality bit and some epoxy should sort both them out.

Obviously you'd void the warranty but I believe mine is already void

- set of Ti cutlery. Was pretty good value and makes eating a pot noodle in the van more luxurious
