Bright orange? That's a bit racy! So when you're on your "stealth bivvy" all that people will be able to see from 200 yards away is an orange pair of long-johns hovering in mid-air! That'll spook 'em.

Thanks to the post over on the bargain thread I finally bought the coat I've been hovering over for the last 12 months or so.

The Gore Shakedry - this is the R7 with the hood from the deal in Wheelbase for £156





Although I'm not big I went for the XL and it's a touch too big, but does fit nicely over my cycling jacket which I wore today.
My arms need to grow another 2" or 3" each to fit perfectly, but I know that if I went for the large it would only be good for summer over a thin cycling shirt as it wouldn't fit over the jackets that I used 8 months of the years.

So the Columbia Outdry jacket is for walking and long downpour rides when speed and pack size bulk isn't essential and this for the rest of the year.
It was nice to see on the label the words "Guaranteed Waterproof"

A slight edit to my post
Changed the jacket name from C7 to R7
C - Cycling
R - Running
Cycling has a longer back in it
Mine also has the hood which the Cycling ones lack

Maybe that's why it had 40% off, but as I'm only 5'8" and the jacket was an XL the tail on the R7 was perfect today.

I have to say it's an amazing jacket
I rode 48 miles, 45 of them in the rain this morning.
60% on gravel tracks and the rest on tow paths and cycle paths.
The weather was everywhere between heavy rain, to drizzle to high ahead winds, and I was bone dry all ride long with this jacket on, most of the ride I had the hood up under my helmet.
Where I live is a flat as a witches t1t so I was always peddling for the 4 hours of the ride.
Not once did I feel clammy in side the jacket as all I had on was a merino short sleeve top on under it, there was no boil in the bag, no condensation on the inside.... I was amazed by its fantastic performance.

Is it worth £250 to £300 (I paid £156).....
If you have the money then yes it's a super lightweight version of the Columbia Outdry jackets that a lot of us have. Just treat is a little better and don't use a back pack with it and it should last for years.

Specialised Propero helmet (with Angi - not sure what that does for me yet, but it's a gadget. I think I now have a bluetooth helmet to go with my bluetooth toothbrush and other bluetooth "how else can we sell more sub standard using apps" stuff )

Looking forward to fiddling with all these bits next week as I'll be busy all weekend.

Lockdown / WFH is proving expensive - but saving money elsewhere as not buying beer, coffee, cake, pub meals, fuel, shopping etc etc etc. Quits overall I think
