This hopefully will open up new levels self sufficiency, and being not reliant on batteries

Ooh - am very interested in this. Are you going to use it to charge a battery pack, from which you then recharge your gizmos, or are you going to try to hook the gizmos up directly? If so, how...?

I really like the idea of a dynamo hub but it's not necessary* for me. Look forward to hearing how it all works out though. What light are you going to pair it with (assuming it'll be used for lights as well / instead of general power).
* this is a rare moment of self control and it has to be admitted that an awful lot of my stuff isn't really necessary

The plan at the moment is to set it up with something like these (not decided which yet)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kemo-M172-Bicyc ... B003JBAX8Q
or
http://www.amazon.com/LightCharge-Bicyc ... B008E9L4AE
There are others out there like e-werks etc
Basically these switch to allow power from the hub to go to lights or charging.
Had a few questions but Rob Dean pointed me in the right direction
For Charging direct to GPS / Phone / possibly headlamp. Im not planning on carring an extra battery
For Light (when funds allow) I will get an Exposure Revo
That should make me fully battery free :)

Mart did you buy the hub via somewhere in the UK or ebay?

You can get them from Fleabay (come from makers in Taiwan) don't know if there is any customs to pay
I got mine from SJS cycles. It was £10 more but from the UK

Some interesting views on the usefulness of hub dynamos for charging various electrical gizmos with / without a buffer battery if you scroll down the comments section on
this post ...
I really like the idea, I'm just not sure what setup will work best... So I'll be interested to see your experiences...

2 man tent for me and the boy's first wild camp this year. Wild Country Helios 2, £103 from the inevitable F&T. Really pleased, so much so I'm thinking about selling the Laser Photon 1 and replacing it with the Terra Nova lightweight version of this; the Solar Iirc. The steep sides provide loads of space and it seems so much more stable.

Got a Wiggle Joystick in the post this morning but I'm having buyers remorse at the moment.
Thinking of sending it back and saving my pennies for a Revo light/Hub.
Is the Revo worth it?

I really like the look of the Revo+Use hub on Wiggle, the simplicity seems great.
However, can the Use hub take any other axle sizes e.g. QR15? Can't see any mention on Wiggle and couldn't find any other info on www after a quick search. My google-fu may be a bit carp though

I've not seen a 15mm QR compatible hub yet which is what I'd be wanting so I hope somebody else has found one.
