The lengths some will go to to sneak a new bike past the Mrs eh )
Billy Rice rules. Apparently he rode the TDR trails to Salida to get his new bike, since he was on an MTB. Who needs an easy life?!

Mike hall has 573 miles to go, at his pace that's no more than about 3 days :O

He's averaged 250 a day so far, so with the traditional end of ride all nighters, even quicker.
The fight for 4th is hotting up with 2 Italians putting in late shifts last night.
Its easy to forget the distances just looking at blue dots, that battle is over 500 miles behind Mike, or three days for their pace, amazing.

Mike could be finished before we're making breakfast tomorrow. At mile 4090, 100 or so to go.

Looks like Mike stopped for the night at the Sugar Tree Inn near Vesuvius. Still 250 miles to go by the look of the elevation plot.

I thought it was 4200ish but you're right Tom looks further on the plot. Mainly DH from there and must be able to smell sea air soon.

Yeah the event website states 4,233 miles and Mike's dot is now saying route mile 4,143 so should be less than 100 miles to go according to that.
Looking at the map and the elevation plot there are more than 200 miles to go.
Guess that will take Mike about 12 - 14 hours if all goes well so he should be done by bedtime (UK time) tonight.
Hope there is someone waiting in Yorktown to hand him what will surely be the most well earned beer ever!

With 160 mile lead and around 8 hours of daylight left and 100 miles to go.

Mike should finish as winner before we wake up

20 minutes ago on Twitter Mike says he is leaving Ashland and hopes to finish at 1pm local time. Great ride.
Driven 2,700 miles in last 3 weeks and that was hard enough!

It's 4.30am and I'm awake with toothache :( but just seen the tracker with Mike around 10k's to the finish
Suddenly the gap is over 200 miles to second place
What a superb performance and a benchmark that I think will stand the test of time. He's earned a beer

Sub 18 days is amazing stuff - ~250 miles per day pace. It was good to see Mike pushed by Jason as well, Mike was never really been able to relax until the last few hours I guess.
Ed looking good for 3rd and race race for 4th - 8th includes Juliana. Met her briefly last year and she is really nice so would like to see her maintain a top 5/6 spot. She broke a chain on a steep climb last night that some locals fixed while she had a beer.
