Damn. I was really hoping someone was going to say, no, don't be daft.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:31 amYou'll never have the correct bike Bob because the variation in terrain means it doesn't exist. As the miles tick away then comfort will become a priority, so you'll know whether your bike can fill that role. Both events I singed up to do this year were cancelled, plus I couldn't make the WRT. Itching to do something a bit more organised, but only have the gravel bike. Not sure I fancy 36 hours of type three fun...
*sighs*
Best find a new job pronto then...

Obligatory "Oh lawks, what have I let myself in for?" post.
Re: BB200 2020
There is a 300 too (same as the last 2 years but probably different route). Only 3 entered so far........
Re: BB200 2020
I'd say the entries would be you, Karl, Ian Barrington and myself, but that would be 4 of us

Re: BB200 2020
Karl and Ian haven't entered yet, just you, me and Dave (Kane or Barter??)
Looks like we'll have to make it a group depart....

Re: BB200 2020
I'm sure Karl will be in, he won't want to end up 3-1 down

Re: BB200 2020
Entered the 200. Assuming it goes well, may see if I have a chance to do the 300 after.
Looking forward to seeing what evils Stu has in store!

Re: BB200 2020
Oh dear God, please don't let me choose the same weekend as Dave 'storm magnet' Barter

Those of you who don't have to book a ferry will be able to go at a moments notice in a good weather window.
Having said that, Dave's journey is probably worse than mine given his location.

Re: BB200 2020
I was kind of hoping the few of us riding the 300 would make a small event of it and meet up at the start - wherever that is, and then last one back buys beer
Re: BB200 2020
If we can find a start point close to accommodation or a campsite I'd be up for that as I'll want a night's sleep before driving home. Will I get a headstart as I've only got 1 gear

Not entered yet. Going to wait until after the Cairngorms Loop and see how I get on with that before deciding on whether to do the 200 or the 300.

Re: BB200 2020
Me (and I'm pretty sure Al) would be up for something like this on the 'softer' 200 version... Obviously I'd not be around for beers (unless it was ginger from my framebag) but if anyone entered the 200 might put their potential dates up. It might help others also decide to ride same day - albeit from a different location - as it's nice knowing there's others on the track ahead or behind

Re: BB200 2020
I’ll be doing it the original weekend, finding accommodation near the route on the Friday and setting off early on the Saturday, was going to do it a couple of days over the mid term but then realised the clocks go back on that Sunday and my eyesight isn’t the best in daylight never mind getting dark earlier
I prefer riding on my lonesome mind as , a-I’m fat and slow & b- have very little social skills

I'm hesitant to say it... but you do realise that if the clocks go back you could just start an hour earlier right?middleagedmadness wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:53 am but then realised the clocks go back on that Sunday and my eyesight isn’t the best in daylight never mind getting dark earlier

It doesn't magically cut an hour of daylight off the day.

Re: BB200 2020
I'm thinking that there's likely to be riders every weekend throughout Oct ... except the one chosen by Dave 'stormbringer' Barter
