A dash cam  I know, I know, I’ve turned into one of those

Some new road shoes from Specialized and cleats, some carbon and stealth loveliness :-bd

Still waiting on Walter Bonatti’s book to arrive  Always the one you want first come last!

Changed me mind Stu  . Reckon 'Bought Mountain' is 'Well-off ex-Stowe School geezer buys up 5000 acres of Wales' so am going for 'Hovel In The Hills' by Elizabeth West instead (although admittedly Firbank was half Welsh). Says here that Firbank also wrote 'A Country Of Memorable Honour' about a walking tour of Wales and meeting loads of 'characters' (must've been WRT weekend). Oops, bugger, my finger slipped and I seem to have ordered both now. Trouble is some of these type of tales can be a bit smug or yupsters playing at hovels but we'll see.

What's the title of the one written a few years ago by the bloke who spent 5 years living in a half derelict mid-Wales cottage. I was put off reading it after I heard him ont' wireless - gave the impression that the entire thing was done simply as a book writing exercise.

Hmm... Neil Ansell was it? "Deep Country"? (*)

As an aside, spotted this (Daily Hate Mail - so not on purpose).
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ng-up.html. I'll bet your finely-honed derelict-Welsh-buildings snout knows where it is. Best kept quiet though, I'll just have to go and look. Although the one I found near Doogaloo last summer comes a close second.

(*) SIGH! Well I've gone and bought that now (**) as well, so I'll let you know if it's any better "in the flesh" as opposed to "on the radio". I'll blame you for mentioning it if it's as crap as you think  .

(**) Yes I know, this has temporarily turned into a sort of "Postman's Been Deja Vu" or something thread. Sorry.

Sadly now looted and locked Reg ... the power of the press. When will people learn that there should be some guarded secrets in life in order to keep things special?

Yes, I think the Mail article let the cat out of the bag Reg and of course, not everyone has the same level of respect as we do.

The mountains of my life (or should that be his life...?!). Don’t know a lot about him (in fact, anything other than he was an alpinest) but felt that I really should, so this was the first book that came up with searching

A Paramo Enduro windshirt. It was cheap / er / a vaguely reasonable price / bargain on their ebay store (£60 compared to £100+). It's "last year's" model though the new one just looks cosmetically updated, to me.

I *think* I like it (though I wish it had some regular front pockets) and it's got an improved fit / cut compared to my existing smock-thing (i.e. not a great-flapping-square-swathe of fabric) but, by heck, it's still very paramo :???:

4x shimano RT66 rotors, a KMC 11 speed chain for chubby tyred wheels.

A 29x2.4 wtb Trail Boss G2 tyre (definitely a different beast from the old smaller one), 10mm rise renthal fatbars (to lower the front end of the FS) and some decidedly orange hope headset spacers.

And even yet I have a void where my soul should be...

And brought me* a SMD Deschutes  I have also had a text from the wife to say another parcel has just arrived which will be my Bearbones carbon pole for said shelter

*He actually only delivered a card as the package needed signing for so I had to go the long way to work to collect it from the local parcel depot which added 6 miles to my ride. Whilst this is good motivation to get up early and do some extra riding it worked out at £33/mile so not really sustainable training plan

pressure wash the dog - got a special nozzle so it doesn’t blast his paws off
