Thanks for those, appreciate it. Knowing just a tiny bit of some of those trails and what they're like gives a real insight.

Looks like Pete Lumsden has taken the train back to Tyndrum.

John Fettis just landed in Dornie in time for breakfast.

I like the 'Dad' moment when the big hand comes on screen and grabs Tom for some extra security. Good stuff. :-bd

I'm certainly glad that I didn't decide that we'd both cross with our bikes at the same time.

Just arrived in Ullapool, but coming from the Hebrides. Some good memories from '13... meeting Dave and Gareth on the streets (again), feeling wasted and hungry. From here on the HTR was a blast and almost pure fun. Was fun to read through the comments. Congrats to all who made it and all who tried, especially to young Tom. As Fabien Barel once said to Josh Briceland when he just about missed a podium: be pacient. Your days soon will come...

Looking forward to the photos and blogs once back home. Thanks beforehand.

Right, looks like our last ITT rider is home.

So that is me done with the Twitter feed unless someone else contests it later in the year.

It's been emotional.

Howdy folks, here is my packing list from this year, the winter gear did a fab job in those temperatures. Only items not used were the summer socks, the spork (to cold to eat a whole pot of yoghurt in Ullapool like last year), sunscreen, Smidge, and fortunately there was no need to change tubes, the Maxxis tyres are amazing. If you are interested, have a look here https://fearlessandunique.wordpress.com ... t-to-take/. And for those who don't know, I am organising the Capital Trail in Edinburgh, looks like there are a few Highland Trail nutters in there, worth coming up, maybe we get the warm weather in Scotland this time. Entries are still open, will close them Thursday/Friday, have a look here https://fearlessandunique.wordpress.com/capital-trail/

Thanks for that Greg. It was fun keeping up with it all, especially knowing what the weather conditions were like up here.

Came past Gobernuisgach lodge today. Apparently one of the caretakers greeted two HTR riders, then a third one, but this time telling him to wait a sec. He enquired why all three had been looking as miserable as a bum (could have been an other word).

Another caretaker pointed out the obvious: why do it, if you know you're going to be miserable? How can you enjoy nature, the views, if your heads down?

Lets turn it around then. Embrace what nature throws at you. Enjoy the landscape you're in.
No matter what you're doing.
I always think to myself when the going gets really tough (and risky), I'll laugh about it once back home.

So, next time some of you come past Gobernuisgach, remember to give them a smile

P.s. Going beyond your limits is no excuse

I have had issues getting photo's off my phone but eventually managed it. Here is one from the start of Steve Large and Dave Barter before any broken free hubs or hurty knee's and swearing:

Excellent write up Tom, and an excellent result. You put some distances in in pretty quick time, especially given the conditions. Well done!
