First run of the year on Friday at dusk - no real reason for the month off, just been more into riding the bike and hitting the climbing wall I guess. Gentle 5 mile trail run with a friend, pushed on a bit on a descent which felt great but otherwise steady.
Planning to race Teenager with Altitude in April, so should probably start getting some distance and (more importantly) elevation in now!
Which wall Greg,?

I had my first run post MCL injury today by accident. I went on to a different treadmill to normal and started off a 6km/h walk, but this machine had been set to mph, so my walk became a slow jog. I did think about stopping it, but the knee seemed ok so I went with it and thought I'd try it to 1m. All was ok so I carried on thinking 2.5m then 5m. By then I thought I'd just go the whole km and so even though it was a gentle pace 6:33/km I'm pretty please to be running again. Assuming it's ok tomorrow, I'll try another short slow run along the seafront and assess how much I can push it or not.

Weirly Vaguely Exciting Walls may actually sound better that Awe.Some Walls.
I miss the Foundry...or the old scratty version of it anyway.

Three very fast paced (for me) runs in the last two days. Sort of had a fire lit under my butt when I found out I've got an entry for CCC in September.
Mildly terrified, but actually really chuffed. I've wanted to do this race for quite a few years.

To be fair, it's not changed that much in the nearly 30 years I've been going... A good chunk of my first student loan cheque went into the old shop there, and I do miss the old bouldering wall/roof where the flats now are, but the main walls are pretty much the same I think?

At least 15 years since I've been in the Foundry. I have no idea if it's changed. I'd sort of assumed it had gone the way of most coffee shops...sorry climbing walls these days
Local wall in Huddersfield at least isn't too much into the boutique side of climbing, just a decent training wall.

My very local wall* It got a good mixed folk all ages & persuasions and a safe space. The old sports centre (pulled down) near big Sainsbury's was very male centric in the noughties.
* Chris who set it up is good guy, an alpine gear tart but that's a different story.

An early 16.5km over 2h and 6 minutes. Going out on a cup of coffee and taking no food or water wasn’t the best idea.

Found myself with a cancelled orienteering race and a "go do something else!" from the wife - BEST. WIFE. EVER.
Up normal work time, Coffee poo coffee food coffee car to Hathersage. Park up, declare intent to the folks at Outside and bound off on the Hope Valley Round (
https://www.outside.co.uk/outside-hope-valley-round.
Wonderful little (32km) route. Really good running, closer to trail than fell, nothing too committing to take on and some wonderful parts of the Peak I've not run through before.
Finished up and got told to go get a free brew and cake upstairs. Really can't speak well enough of Outside, still one of the best independent outdoor shops in the country.

*Possibly the end of summer** at my current rate of running progress.

It's a great route. More trail than fell. The process over the result. It's worth a pootle.

Sounds an excellent route Greg, I'll hopefully give it a go soon.
Short, fairly speedy and frighteningly flat runs today and yesterday as we're at centerparcs on Holland's North sea coast... 6km each but single figure elevation change !
Accidentally bought some fast road shoes in a sale in Rotterdam - Adidas supernova ones - so they're getting a good breaking in.

Just a short run today to test out the new SG5's. Very pleased with them indeed.
It was my first 5k post MCL (1 month on and I have now gone from 0km to 1 to 3 to 5 in an the last ten days) and so far it's still ok.
My first trail run since school cross country. So much more fun than road running, but a bit more effort per km in the current winter muddy conditions.
My first trail run in the dark, forgot the head torch.

Today's run was a bit naff. No 1 son was up at 3am so I didn't manage to get out early and then drank way too much coffee until the missus woke up. Finally managed to start my run at 9 just in time for it to start raining but then just felt increasingly nauseous with ominous stomach pains so what was meant to be a slow 15k turned into a slow 5k to get back to the car. It's a shame because once the shower had passed over, the sun came out and it was gloriously warm for a February day, I just wasn't in the mood to enjoy it. Only 28km this week so not sure if should try again tomorrow or just move on to next weeks plan.

New Chew long O race today. Didn't feel right when I woke up, didn't feel much better during the 4.5 hours on the hills! Still, treated it as a good long day out, and got a nice 24km under my belt across some horrendous ground.

Long slow run out to the Chase and back via Brocton and Milford. 22k in 2h 41 with about 200m of climbing. By far my longest run so far, first time over 17k. 51.7km for the week.

Nice! Well done on that :)
I had a few easy runs up to work from the train station (2km and 200m up) and then some lovely longer runs home in sunlight this week. Needed to rest after last week, probably did a bit too much. Combined with back to school I felt rubbish most of the week.
Friday off, climbed Saturday, racing tomorrow.

Third run in the Speedgoat5’s. Loving them so comfy but today it think I had them laces a bit too tight. I use speed laces in all my shoes, but I just didn’t want to stop to adjust them. Like the previous two runs in them they again delivered new pb’s fastest 1km, mile and 5k. Not sure if it’s me or the fact the course had dried out and was a little firmer and the treads were much cleaner. I also tried to concentrate more on keeping an upright stance and working my arms more so perhaps that was it. Still I think the magic shoes helped. Also bagged a rabbit running with me and a really nice sunset.
Trail running is so much better than road or treadmill running.

Much in the way that cycling outside is better than Zwift.

Northern orienteering championships today at Burbage Moor (And that boulderfield: map here at 1:2000
https://www.southyorkshireorienteers.or ... her_v1.pdf)
Had a good day, much better than last time I race here in 2020. Brutally cold today on the tops, but once we got moving it was fine. Ran well, navigated well, made some errors that I regret, but did ok overall. Felt much more in control than I have in a "real" race in the past 12 months, which was good.
11km, 1hr 32, 22 controls. 4th V40 I think.
