I do love a good bit of wood. I smell it before I do anything else with it. Which quite possibly explains a few things. The w/site I saw was knocking out (what a coarse term for something so nice) staves for a bit more than that. Maybe the trees were grown in rocking-horse or unicorn sh.. i mean manure, or something. Just been out watering some oak saplings/treelets - grew 'em all from acorns over the years - that I guerilla-planted down by the river. Spend more time talking to them than talking to Mrs Perrin .

You'd be surprised what they actually hold up mate , I've got a slimline one from my paddling days think its rated upto 75kg and you know I'm slightly over that and it worked on quite a few occasions , now the problem I've got is your making me have the itch to paddle again , may be time to ask for some pennies in the new year for one of those inflatable thingys , on a separate issue mate what's the chance of that longshore holding 2 bikes kit and mi youngfella ( he paddles better than me so it could make for a easier journey)

As I don't own a raft and Dee informed me that I'm worth much more dead than alive, I went for a budget option. It's termed as a 'snorkel vest' but it does look like it should do the job and of course there's the benefits of low weight and small packsize. If I was considering anything involving whitewater, I've have probably bought something else.

Velocity Blunt 35 rim to replace my rear Blunt ss which was dinged to hell within about 500 meters of Ben alder bothy and the path with its water bars on this years HT550. Its not as lithe as the ss but strong looking and more nimble than the dually tractor wheels that came with the bike. How the blunt ss got round the full 550 without ripping the tyre to shreds is a mystery.

Not quite the postie, but did pick up some fresh Specialized Sports and cleats to replace my old destroyed pair whilst out on the milk run earlier. Not nearly as comfortable or as well ventilated. Need proper breaking in.
