I took delivery of a nice shiny (almost) new 29er front wheel from Duncan (pistonbroke).
It's a Stans 'Flow' rim on a Hope 'Pro II' hub with an On-one 'Smorgasbord' tyre - all set-up nicely tubeless for me to give it a go (have never been convinced by tubeless).
Here it is in use today:
Will see how it goes.....
I also got my 'front porch' for my SMD 'Skyscape Scout' in the post this morning which I'm keen to try out (hopefully having me a little bike/bivi trip this weekend).

Its a good read, though not quite as much introspection as I like!

I like. I love how it's quite easy to now design something and get it machined up domestically.
I was considering getting one of those rep rap 3D printers (and also a xbox kinnect but the development version so I could get 3d point cloud data) so I could almost clone any object I wanted

That looks neat, I'm about to go 1x9 on my commuter bike so I suspect I might need something like that.

Zippy - just going 1x9 on a Swift to bash around on.
Here you go but you'll get drawn into the temptations of Phil Wood, Chris King and White Industry bits.
Couldn't find this Chain Keeper in the UK but no tax on this delivery today!

Can't let that one go Ian - what's that looking like or is it still top secret? Expression of interest here!

I use a Pauls Chain Keeper ... 'tis very good. Requires a bit of time to set it up but once fitted it should be trouble free, mine has been.

The first one has come out a bit small, but that's prototyping for you. It's currently stuffed with four Nutrigrain Elevenses bars and three normal Nutrigrain bars ready for the trip tomorrow. I imagine once I've spent 20 hours looking at it over the weekend, I'll have a clear picture of exactly what I want

Just a shame it's still such a pain in the arse to get decent materials easily in this country.

Bugger all

... no one's delivering due to the snow. I was all excited, awaiting a Dakota 20 and primed to ask all kinds of stupid questions about why I couldn't get it to work*.
*I suppose you've all got something to look forward to on Monday now

I've got a Dakota 20. Mostly it works fine
Just taken delivery of a new bike light. SportPursuit were doing a deal on a "1600" Lumen thing that looks much like one of the MagicShines. It's been a few years since I bought a proper powerful light for night riding and I've already got some trips in mind for this one.

SMD Lunar Solo couriered by my mate from the US. Bit of a faff to arrange delivery to his hotel but worked out cheap for me.

My new shifter arrived today, which has now been blacked out and fitted.
I've always liked grip shifts, but the main reason for switching from the regular alfine triggers is to get back a certain position on the Jones bars that you just can't comfortably use when the triggers take up so much space underneath and in front of the brake levers, and the oversized indicator window takes up space on top of the bars.
I can now wrap my hands around the bar at the crossbar junction a lot better, which means a much more comfy cruising position. ;]
I also don't have to have the huge indicator window or silver finish of the official alfine twist grip.
