So yeah... if you have a choice, this weekend definitely looks like the time to do it. Basically zero wind, and 3-4 days of dry weather beforehand. You'll be looking at the reports from the early lot and saying "ground was fine, I don't know what they were going on about".

Quick question... can anyone think of anywhere in Builth I might be able to get some water when everywhere is closed?

Rich, in my 20 miles I saw 2 perfecty clear streams with beautiful bottled water* (not counting the streamy river) and I still remember Stu saying one year, whilst I was on a similar topic (of water), 'its Wales'... You obviously know better than me though as you're from there

I barely rate my chances of finishing over 50/50 as it is. Adding pizza weight probably wont help!

With regard to the time though, I have a meeting to get to the day after, which means I need to be back to my car by a certain time of day. If I'm not at Builth by 22:30 then realistically I have to start heading back to car.

As for water, I'm trying not to carry my filter as it's extra weight, and getting a camelbak worth through it takes forever.

I just put a tablet in the water, didnt bother filtering it. It was very clean with no debris.

Sheep pee is clean (or so I heard!!). The streams all looked clear and clean to me.

At the Brecon Beacons visitor centre there is a tap on the wall.

If you're taking a single bottle you might need to fill from streams. I took a 2 litre bladder and filled up only from taps. (I don't like filling up at night from streams etc - difficult to tell how clean they are, so I tend to carry sufficient to get me through the night, then can carry a half empty bladder if I know the next fill up isn't far away).

I just fill from running stream (with certain criteria). Always worked well for me for past 15 or so years...

Was it you that just said about the sheep poo not being harmful! That's what we get taught from the prophetic statements too (actually my post was regards that first and why I just drink the water as long as it fulfils certain criteria like running well, looking clean, etc etc but deleted it in case it becomes a bit too 'Muzlamic' ) and its always worked well for me...

Stopped for a pint at the pub in Llanygidr (sp?) with Trepid Explorer and filled up there too.

After last weekend's failed attempt I was all for throwing in the towel on these 200 and 300 events.

But after reading all the other stories, deciding to buy a Toro, take a pizza and seeing the weather forecast I now want to re-attempt it this weekend !

(I can't cos I'm in the Lakes, but I never cease to be amazed at how fickle I am!).

I'm in... when you planning to go. What diameter of pizza you planning. I'm thinking the 16 inch fully topped one might be too much weight

I had a Toro and pizza* on the 2019 HT550 and I scratched. I had just the Toro on the 2019 BB300 and finished so I don't know if it's the Pizza that's making the difference? Perhaps too small a sample set to judge

Having had a severe case of campylobacter after the 300 in 2018 I'm not in a massive hurry to repeat the experience (though that was likely from a farm I went through).

I'm not going to be going full bore anyway, so hopefully water wont be too big of an issue.

I suspect my pedal or my hip might be though. Ordered a new set of pedals click and collect and they just mailed me to say they didn't actually have the stock they were showing. Tossers.

Hip is really tweaky today, which I'm hoping I can fix with copious amounts of drugs.

erm... Ok, maybe not the pizza, no pizza. I dont wanna be wet and cold with soggy pizza that's just slightly warmed
