Danger; https://backcountry.scot/
Re: The post man's been ...
Good stuff, thanks, will take a look!
Re: The post man's been ...
it'll be https://backcountry.scot I think, they've got 20% off with this code: BeastFAEeastbenp1 wrote:What shop is that Colin? I'm in Aviemore at the beginning of next month so need to know which gear shops to check out...!ScotRoutes wrote:On a Sunday, that'll be right.![]()
However, I did pop into Mr Toops lovely emporium in Aviemore today and exited with one Cumulus 250 quilt. He tried to persuade me that the "Comforter" was potentially the better option but I'll give this a go, potentially along with my lightest down bag until the weather turns.

Somewhere in Germany, I got quite excited and preordered and obviously have completely forgotten from where. A skill which is useful in bikepacking.

Re: The post man's been ...
Well it wasn't the postman, but have just bought a tandem on ebay.
It's a 1938 Pollard track tandem that looks completely original. 531 steel frame, 5 speed hub gears, some brakes and only 5 miles away so I am hoping to ride it home!!
Pollard were a Coventry cycle maker between 1920's and 50's, so this one hadn't travelled far.
The best thing is this one has the complete blessing of the better half, and she wants to ride it as well

More trail-running trainers (cheap Saucony Peregrines) also arrived and the second ed. of "The Ultimate Hang". Manalive it's much more akin to a bible physically now

Another pair of Berghaus Vapourlight shorts, my second pair. They're my favourite shorts for everyday wear - good for walking, biking, general faffing about. I found a pair in the right size so am preparing for when the temperature hits the teens!

Re: The post man's been ...
Those dissent 133 waterproof gloves arrived.
Size up quite big, but are meant to be an over-glove in a layering system
They have been very waterproof in the rain on two days so far. They seem like they breathe well too. (20,000 whatever’s per whenever)
Hope to put them to a longer more rigorous test soon...

Interesting Ian, please lettuce snow how you get on with those. I seriously need to up my glove game – I very nearly did some damage to my hands when I did my festive 500 which has left me on the lookout ever since. I was considering some kayaking gloves for when it’s seriously wet – and likely to be cold wet….ianfitz wrote:Those dissent 133 waterproof gloves arrived.

The layered glove system approach would be way more useful on multi-day likely to be variable weather type days though, and certainly more efficient than my current guess which 2 sets of gloves will suit me best approach!

The postman’s been on a number of occasions.

Still stuff to sort, suspension forks and some finishing kit once I’ve settled on a ride position. So the Postie still has work to do!

Dissent 133 'glove system'. The showerproof glove isn't waterproof, unsurprisingly, but is drizzleproof. Not tested the waterproof ones yet. The liner gloves feel nice

I really like that, I hadn't realised that it had adjustable dropouts so it could be run singlespeedPiemonster wrote:The postman’s been on a number of occasions.
