February was utterly crap for me as I lost my Dad, nearly lost my business and suffered all sorts of poor show injuries and other bollocks.

But it's happy Friday this week the highlights of which have included pitching at a ghost conference (my most surreal business opportunity yet), setting the lad off on his own new business and the formal arrival of Colin the Cutthroat into the Barter bike stable. Also my publisher rang and they are creating an Audio Book of The Year. Which is ace as I've been trying to do it myself but quickly realised I'm not a natural narrator, apart from porn movies which I may have the dialect for.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Dave, as posted elsewhere, I lost my Mum last week after 10 years of Alzeimers . Funeral's a week today so back for that. Unfortunately it's not only good news that comes in 3's, a good friend and neighbour died from cancer at my age on Friday and a long standing friend from Holmfirth lost her 23 year old son and ex husband in a car crash last Saturday.

On a cheery Friday note, temperatures are now firmly stuck in the 20's and Spring is well on the way

Given that Friday has finished here already, it's a very cheery Saturday...no work for 48 hours...hoofeckingray. Hopefully I can get some Lois time when I wake up.

This is cheering me up (and I could really do with it today, given the utter clustermess that is our modern world...)

Second ever attempt at carving a spoon (the first was defeated by a particularly truculent knot).

I have known Simon Aske for over 20 years (since I moved to Devon). He has owned and run Colin Lewis Cycles in Paignton for most of that time. A bit more than a couple of years ago he started making his own steel road bike frames.

He services and looks after my bikes so over time has seen the fun I have bikepacking and riding off-road, so he made himself what some people would call a "monster cross" bike recently. I fell in love with it and decided that when I was in a position to order one of his bikes, that is what I would go for.

Oh nice, that looks like a cracker Hmmm, Senna, so either yellow and some green/black stripes or white and red scheme...? Very exciting!

Today went to Lewes for the first time. I had only seen it from the SDW and it looked nice.

Found a nice patisserie for lunch a walk around the castle area and then Union Music store to pick up a vinyl recording of Yola Carter's recent debut album. Saw her at a festival about 3years ago, she was excellent.

(Other news of week is my cast is off and am in a splint for two more weeks)

Had a very enjoyable day working at Longcross studios for a special effects crew, these guys have the job I want. Seriously heavy weight/high speed gear to throw lorries and other heavy things around. Plus they get to blow things up, this is definitely what I would like to do when I grow up
Finished at 3pm so missed the traffic nightmare, weekend away approved and beer open
