Just checked and the pole I used was 120cm. So, with a cork on the end, about 123. My mistake
My Deschutes copy arrived on Satruday. So that's about 9 days from China and despite my inadvertent curve ball of using the wrong post code (d'oh!) delivery was entirely unhampered and customs-charge free
Useful stuff about the poles, ta. I will have to review what I've got.
Fresh bits at the pit...retiring the old Serfas Big Stick...in comes a Lezyne Gauge Drive HV. Let's see how long it takes me to remove a core. Some tyre levers and a StemCaptain thermometer for Mrs Scattamah. And some flatwound bass strings from a mate in London for the full scale. More stuff due soon as I replace the contact points on Lois.
given how I'm a kind of a stove-a-phob I've just taken delivery of Pocket Stove from Backpackinglight
bit quirky but I'm going to use it mostly for spring and summer trips and walks, quick try out in the garden tonight and I've had a nice brew from an esbit block and from my meths stove. Going to have a little play burning some twigs tomorrow.
Some handlebars form thomthumb from the classifieds, he even delayed posting them as I was away for a week, top service The delivery driver left me a card saying they were in the porch which I'd already realised as I was stood in the porch when I opened the front door to get to the card he'd put through the letterbox
I also received some 1.5" wide grey triglide buckles. My new waist pack is good but the straps seem to slip a bit through the buckles. Adding the triglides should stop this but as the straps and existing buckles are grey I wanted grey ones to match. I could only find these in one place on the web.
They are a fraction lighter shade but much better than black ones would be. What's most remarkable is that I ordered them on Monday and they arrived Thursday.... from Canada! Obviously the postage cost was the bulk of the price but I've got some spares as I didn't just order 2 so if anyone is after similar PM me and I'll do you a good deal
Took delivery of my larger size Mk3 Stooge on Thursday, swapped the bits over from my Genesis High Latitude yesterday. Test ride tomorrow. Anyone else on here got one?
A cat-door tarp from UK Hammocks turned up on Thursday. Id emailed them Monday to see how long the wait was to get one, they replied Tuesday they had them in stock and I had it two days later. I know some folks have had issues with them, but maybe they're sorting things out. The tarps a winner for a hammock and the doors were a god send last night with heavy rain and wind blowing it about.
My custom quilt from Enlightened has just arrived, faster than I anticipated and without any interference from HMRC. Except I ordered the wrong bloody version; I wanted a closed footbox (Enigma), what I ordered and received is an open footbox (Revelation). As I have really bad circulation to my feet, this is of no use to me. So, if anybody is interested, This is now for sale - the specs are:
Apex synthetic Insulation
10 deg C
Short (5'6") / Slim (50")
Black outer / Red inner
280g on my digital scales
I expect this will be perfect for ultra-light bivi bag in warm moist conditions (UK summer), and provide extra insulation and resilience to dampness when combined with a light down bag (inside) for 3-4 season use.

More details on the classified page in a bit...
I've a revelation with down fill. The zip and poppers make a really good foot-box. Does the synthetic one not have the same?

Yes, it is the same, but I am paranoid about cold feet; with bad circulation which has led to a few cold weather injuries over the years, I am really vulnerable.

I also have a cumulus with a sewn in foot box. I'm not sure the revelate is any cooler. Especially for a summer bag
