to make a bigger range cassette, Is it as simple as disassembling the cassette, sticking in new big cog, re-assemble and away you go?

Usually the biggest cogs are a group so you can't do that. The extender cogs like the Hope TRex are fitted by taking one of the middle cogs out and then adding the extender on the end.

A couple of weeks back....some lovely Bearbones carbon poles, which thanks to Stu's advice will work with both the Trailstar and the small DD tarp. One 6 section pole with 2 bottom sections for inside the trailstar, with an additional top section for use with the flat tarp. One 3 section 1m pole. Having the 6 section pole will let me take any number of sections when using the flat tarp as I think I need as it's not elasticated.
And, having been through this thread, couldn't resist one of the little Treadlite Gear cuben fibre lanterns.
Both poles and lantern have been field tested and fully live up to expectations

..with a new mechanism for my Winnie The Pooh kitchen clock.

Customised with longer saddle straps because usual short ones are too fiddly to get through the rails, plus a further-back top buckle because the normal one hides under the back of the saddle, plus some tiny half-length fibreglass inserts for the base to stop the whole thing bending like a banana (I've started a new option there apparently). In black colour there's a choice of "Small" or "Reg" - I'm honoured I must say and went for the "Reg" . Wonder how many Regs they shift?

A lightweight little stuff sack for my titan kettle from some bloke on ebay - I remember MSR sending out their little pots with a big rubber band to hold the lid and contents together back in the day but this should do a better job.

Koalas. Meh. Nasty pissing iron clawed demons, they are. My father's second wife's brother used to work in the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in the late 1970s. One of this jobs was to pass a koala to tourists to cuddle for a few moments while they were photographed. He reckoned they peed on one in 20 of the visitors.
One day, one of the koalas decided he didnt want to leave the embrace of the Japanese lady who was holding him, and sunk his claws into her chest and just wouldn't let go. They had to tear him off. Literally. Horrid little bastards.

But back to business.

I've had lots of deliveries recently, mainly in preparation for my Lapland trip this xmas, and mainly for the kids... ski suits, base layers, socks, gloves etc. Buying it up in the sales and 2nd hand on ebay now so I can spread the cost and get stuff cheap

Picked up a nice Simond fleece hoodie in the sale too. Designed for climbers so a nice slim cut torso with long arms

Some Ritchey Venturemax flared drops to replace the tiddly Alpkit Bombers on the Arkose. Fancied some more Salsa bars but £80....ouch.

£40 for these.



The blurb copied onto a couple of retailers pages says the width is to the first bend suggesting that the bars are a shade wider than an equivalent drop bar measures c to c. The blurb on the packet and the width of the actual bars says that's crap as my 44s are 44cm c to c.
