It's not terrible, and I'm still planning on turning up. But I'm not going to be in any fit shape to pull off doing it in one hit, so looks like I'll be packing a bit more gear then. Oh well, I think I'll be alreet

B0ll0cks, it's got worse over the day. my overnight resting heart rate has been noticeably higher than normal too, waking up with dry throat - but thought it would shake, and now on the lead up to the weekend i'm definitely not right. Cognitively i'm noticeably slower too.
So i think i shall turn up, see how i feel, and maybe join Gairy.
Super low exertion at snails pace will be alreet?

The main question I have for folks that have already been through Knighton is.....
Chips, kebab or both?

No, that was purely a 'one off' for 3 blacks for the first 3 years. However, I might look at doing something else for services to the cause

I think you should introduce a red badge for 18-24 hours and move the black to sub 18

Why not introduce a platinum badge for sub 18 hours plus at least three times up the hardest hills whilst we're at it...

Hmmm... one way in reverse, and one way as intended.

Currently happy that the rib I bruised three weeks ago seems to have settled down after riling it last weekend. Bike is mostly packed, tomorrow involves some last minute faffing, things thrown in van, get some more food and decide when to start fighting the m25.
Please can it be like this in Wales again this weekend Stu?

Bike is packed and test ridden, sleep mat and extra clothing definitely included after last night's evening ride (brrrrr chilly). Van is ready for sleeping in tonight. Just have to sit in fracture clinic with the other half for five hours today and then I'll be on the road. Really can't wait. It looks like a beautiful route. I am absolutely, resolutely, not racing round it. <-------NOTE TO SELF

Ah yes, one would have to turn up and get an available room
I see the distinction now

I was being deliberately mischievous

It's a pre-event booking so no need to get the rule book out

Saturday night we shall be dossing out with the rest of you.

I am riding through, or will be rather uncomfortable. I think I am all packed...food does not currently all fit in but I think I can wedge some stuff when it's on the bike.
Say hello if you see me as I think I only know 1 rider - white El Mariachi with kelp drybags, black and white Urge helmet, Kepler velo jersey unless its very cold.
I am told that 3 others are staying at the Wynnstay arms hotel so maybe see some of you tonight.

In a similar vein - if anyone's stopping at the Travelodge in Oswestry tonight, that's our hotel. Posh me

Seems my strategy is now basically set given that I've left home.
My plan is to go for the best time I can, given the amount of riding I've done recently this year seems like as good a shot as I'll ever get so I'm going for it. In my dream world I'd like a time which starts with a 1 (19h 59.59 will do nicely) but if I ride through without stopping and go sub 24 I'll be happy.

Not anymore I'm bailing - does anyone want my room?
The Wynnstay Arms is right next to the start (less than 1 minute walk). PM me and I can get it sorted.
